The Decision Operation Management team is responsible for PayPal business rules management including rules engine integration for new product offerings, rules operation and decision certification. This role is an entry-level software developer position and will be involved in software development for various stages of business rules management. The candidate is expected to build and improve software applications, or provide technical solutions related to rules management. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge in software development, possess strong data analytical and problem solving skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Hands on, Full Stack software development for rules management related applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for PayPal products and rules related business solutions
  • Support business teams and partner engineering teams with monitoring, data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Proactively propose business requirement and possible solutions to address engineering and analytical issues.
  • Work effectively with globally distributed teams in multiple time zones.


  • Computer engineering background or solid software engineering experience
  • Familiar with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java and Scala
  • Familiar with Unix/Linux operating system, relational/NoSQL database systems such as Oracle, MySQL and MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of caching and message broker technologies such as Redis, Kafka and RabbitMQ
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Web development experience with ReactJS and NodeJS will be a plus
  • Knowledge of payment industry and risk management will be a plus
  • Knowledge of Business Rules (Rules Engine) technology will be a plus
