A typical day for the Financial Analyst will include:PayPal operates a dynamic business that addresses the payment needs of both merchants and consumers. With over 130 million users worldwide, PayPal is rapidly becoming the preferred method of making and accepting online payments. PayPal is focused on maximizing the adoption, use, and preference for PayPal on-line and off-line by addressing customer needs, both merchant and consumer, more effectively than any other payments provider and by offering customers the best payment experience off line and on-line.

The Finance Analyst will be a key part of the Finance team. The role will require that the individual:
• Build frameworks (models and reports) to analyse performance of the business, identify and commercialize opportunities.
• Develop insights based on quantitative and qualitative research.
• Deep dive on key business, financial, merchant and consumer metrics to develop insights and strategy.
• Provide finance forecast and budget support to the finance team in terms of managing financials
• Support improvements to processes and systems to streamline efficiency
The individual will need to be a self-starter, have an inquiring mind, a proactive nature, business acumen and a fascination for discovering insights from consumer and merchant activity.
In order to develop actionable insights the individual will need to work with product, risk, operations, sales, relationship management and finance teams to determine the key metrics, but also to outline proposals for improvement.
The ideal candidate will be able to do more than merely report on the metrics. They will be able to collaborate and influence across the PayPal organization.

What does Success Look Like?

  • Analytical - Thorough understanding and experience with customer data.
  • Strong Excel skills (including pivot tables, functions, macros, charts) are a big plus. Knowledge of SQL and Essbase ideal but not a must
  • Strong mathematics and statistics knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data and offer insight and recommendations into business opportunities.
  • Ability to proactively identify and develop insights which would be valuable to support the decision making for our merchant portfolio
  • Effective time-management and prioritization skills to manage workload.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, ability to build relationships internally and externally, interfacing at all levels
  • Thrives in an environment of continuous change and complexity
  • Results oriented, team player, fun, energetic personality, works well under pressure
  • Must be eager to learn, contribute and share knowledge – internally and externally
     

Bachelor’s Degree at a high-ranking institution and a degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. math, finance, analytics, etc.) preferred but not a must
