The China Controller is a key member of International Controllership team and responsible for maintaining and driving controllership rigor and discipline for all 5 entities in China covering the Paypal business and Operations Center. This role reports directly to International Regional Controller and is based in Shanghai.
This position will work closely with country CFO, regional tax, treasury and shared services team to drive controllership and discipline while providing finance support to business team for new product introduction. This role will also be responsible for providing financial oversight to the global operations center in China.

Accounting and Financial governance

  • Preparation of monthly financial reports and analytics to support a structured risk-based monthly management review
  • Work closely with ASSC team to ensure transactions are recorded in compliance with US GAAP & IFFRS
  • Ensure regular review of account reconciliations including follow up and closure of open items 
  • Ensure timely completion of statutory audits for entities registered in China
  • Review business processes to improve/strengthen internal controls and track remediation of control deficiencies
  • Provide strong financial oversight to global operations center business processes

Regulatory and tax compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory reporting PBOC, SAFE and other regulatory bodies
  • Liaise with tax team to ensure timely tax and VAT filings
  • Partner with region Tax team on TP arrangement, explore the optimized tax structure with maximized economic benefit

Support business team on new products

  • Work closely with Business CFO and his team to provide controllership support for business growth
  • Provide controllership insight and infrastructure support to business on new product development
  • Work closely with GFP and  product development team to ensure operational and accounting infrastructure is setup to support new product launch


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university
  • CPA or CA qualification is a pre-requisite
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Local GAAP and IFRS
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in controllership,  experience in audit firm is a plus
  • Experience with audit procedures and SOX compliance requirements
  • Prior working experience in the financial industry or TMT preferred
  • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office software tools, especially advanced MS excel skills
  • Familiar with use of SAP R/3 (FI/CO module) system and BW tools
  • Organizational skills and experienced in leading a team

Essential

  • Strong English speaking and writing skills
  • Familiar with local statutory audit, tax returns and filing process in China
  • Strong accounting analysis skills with experience handling multiple entities, transfer pricing and consolidations
  • Ability to understand complex tax and legal entity structures
  • Some knowledge in indirect tax, corporate income tax and transfer pricing
  • Ability to effectively present financial information to management in a clear and concise manner
  • Good business partnering skills working with various people across different organizations both internal as well as external
  • Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills
  • Able to drive changes to improve processes
  • Ability to document work processes, procedures and policies
  • Project management skills
