PayPal has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Tax - Americas. This role will be responsible for partnering with PayPal's US, Canada and Latam businesses in the delivery of new initiatives, transactions and strategic changes, as well as day to day tax support. The Director is responsible for continuously creating value by developing and maintaining optimized tax structures and processes and acts as a key advisor to PayPal executives on all tax matters.

  • Oversight of all tax matters in respect of PayPal's Americas business.
  • Planning, implementation and defense of transactions including intellectual property structures, treaty application, repatriation, reinvestment of profits, withholding tax, acquisition integration, etc. 
  • Review of all global commercial contracts from an income tax perspective.
  • Collaboration with Provision and Compliance teams to ensure accurate reflection of transactions on financial statements/returns.
  • Collaborate across all functions at PayPal, including Controllership, Treasury, Legal, Product, etc.
  • Improve compliance processes as necessary.
  • Manage direct report.
  • Manage outside law firms and consultants.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 12+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. international tax laws post TCJA.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively relate tax issues to non-tax personnel. 
  • Proven ability to lead major tax planning transactions in the US and internationally to create tax savings above and below the line.
  • Ability to translate tax advice into potential financial impacts.
  • Corporate tax department experience strongly preferred.
  • JD/LLM or CPA/MST preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office, in particular, Powerpoint, Excel
