PayPal's GCSC Risk Organization is responsible for managing risk throughout the customer lifecycle. This is an exciting organization where contributions have a direct P&L impact. The Data Science Director of Seller Risk will lead of team of analysts who collaborate with Strategy, Operations, Finance, and Technology to predict, monitor and understand how the confluence of internal and external factors impacts the performance of our merchant portfolio.

The role requires a senior and seasoned risk leader to bring the PayPal leadership model to life. Strong financial acumen, self-confidence and the ability to influence are required.

This position will need to build strong relationships with PayPal business partners and within the GCSC organization to be effectively positioned to understand, communicate, and influence plans, results, issues, and outcomes. This leader will work in a complex, fast-paced matrixed environment, replete with tight deliverable timeframes and juggling multiple stakeholders, both internal and external. This position is expected to act independently and demonstrate strong initiative. This leader needs to influence outcomes, drive data-driven decision making, and to minimize and address conflicts.. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement.

This Director must have a demonstrated track record as an established leader who is equally strategic and tactical, and the stature to build a relationship with business management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, data science and/or loss forecasting preferably in the payments space
  • 7+ years of leadership experience, working with teams around the globe
  • Ability to leverage internal and external data to glean insights that enhance existing models and business rules
  • Strong track record of using various visualization techniques and software (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI, etc) to ensure effective delivery of insights to partners and stakeholders
  • Communicate concise and actionable business strategies to Executive team

Relevant Experience:

  • Develop loss forecasts for global credit/payments products leveraging internal performance data and various macroeconomic inputs
  • Conduct regular stress testing to ensure portfolio maintains minimum profitability measures
  • Participate in monthly/quarterly/annual forecasting and reporting process with Finance and Accounting
  • Monitor global portfolio performance to ensure its within PayPal’s Risk Appetite
