Developer Platforms and Experiences (DPX) organization has both product and engineering teams that focus on developer productivity and enabling platform services and analytics. Working under the larger Technology Platforms & Experiences (TPX) umbrella, Its vision is to “Cultivate a thriving community of developers that deliver high quality, innovative software with minimal friction” To achieve this vision, we are looking for people with a passion and curiosity to solve developer problems that enable them to write high quality bug free code, but also deploy them seamlessly using horizontal platform services like Notifications, Tracking, Experimentation, Search, Crawler etc. The internal stakeholders for the Program include but are not limited to PayPal Inc.’s Product Teams, Risk, Compliance and Strategy Teams.

We are seeking a well-experienced, hands-on Engineering Director to lead transformation of our platforms. The ideal candidate must have strong technology leadership and become a trusted advisor to influence our Technical Teams.

You have the technical expertise to lead software and architecture discussions and guide cross-functional product and engineering teams through functional definition, solution, and integration stages on a large scale.

Roles & Responsibility:

  • Ability to lead complex discussions and engagements that may involve multiple project teams from PayPal and our partner organizations.
  • Work with technical product leads to design and deliver solutions for the PD teams.
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to development teams.
  • Manage stakeholder planning and communications for key platform initiatives.
  • Be a technical subject matter expert and represent the full internal and external capabilities of the platform.
  • Identify any product/functionality gaps and collaborate internal product and technology teams to define the necessary development to support solution delivery.
  • Oversee technical project delivery process with key contributors to help manage scope.
  • Ensure engineering team implements optimal integration strategies, techniques and user experience best practices.
  • Capture and communicate experiences in formal post-mortem, feeding lessons learned, best practices and resources back into the engineering team.

Required Skills:

  • 15+ years’ experience building large scalable technology platforms
  • Passion for solving developer problems with innovative platforms & solutions
  • Experience in architecture, design and implementation of developer & core platform services
  • Financial reconciliation and reporting
  • Expertise in designing for reliability, availability, scalability and performance in highly regulated Financial Services industry preferred.
  • Experience managing large teams in both matrix and direct report structures.
