Core Platform and Infrastructure (CPI) team is the technology engine that powers PayPal’s business. We deliver a seamlessly scalable, exceptionally efficient, highly reliable infrastructure and services platform in a hybrid cloud environment. The Developer Experience team within CPI supports the global PayPal developer community and this role is central to partnering with that community, our Product team to drive regular prioritization and planning, our Finance team to set and manage our organizational budget, and executives and leaders across the company to keep them informed and equipped to make decisions.

Job Description
The Director of Business Operations & Program Management for the Developer Experience team will be responsible for leading the operations, planning and execution of strategic priorities within the organization in a methodical, disciplined and predictable fashion. Demonstrable past experience doing the same at meaningful scale is required. This leader will be a critical partner to business, product and engineering leaders in order to define and manage our priorities, drive business and product planning effectively, and regularly manage expectations and ensure forward progress and achievement.

To be successful in this role this leader is highly motivated and a customer-oriented problem solver. You thrive when bringing order to chaos and navigating ambiguity. You create paths forward when others are stuck and adapt quickly to change. This leader must be one who is both comfortable and capable in the weeds solving problems as they are hovering high and working strategically. The tool kit required for both is necessary: focus on problem solving, accountability and outcomes, strong ability to influence others at multiple levels, initiative, drive, and structured analytical thinking. Our work supports the whole of PayPal and thus, the millions of merchants and consumers—our customers—worldwide who rely on our platform every day.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced operational leader who has a reputation for getting things done, scales effectively, thinks critically, acts quickly, and partners naturally across a variety of functions. Good judgment, negotiation skills, and analytical talent are essential to success in this role.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in leading complex technology initiatives in a high growth/high velocity environment at a leading consumer technology company or management consulting firm

  • 10+ years experience business operations leading strategy development, financial planning/budgeting, portfolio and resource management, analytics and reporting, story-telling through slides

  • Proven expertise developing strategies and solutions to make teams, organizations, projects and initiatives work efficiently and successfully

  • A record of developing professional relationships, collaborating and communicating across the matrix with business and technology stakeholders and multiple geographies

  • Impeccable collaboration and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate, self-direct and follow-through with a high attention to detail

  • Ability to influence both peers and leaders, to build consensus while dealing with ambiguity, and make or delegate decisions when necessary

  • People management experience of 5 or more directs

  • Demonstrated aptitude for risk identification and mitigation

  • Excellent oral, written communication skills including presentation skills

  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously and effectively
