As Director of Product Analytics, you will oversee analytics for one of PayPal’s core product verticals, working as part of an embedded team with colleagues across Product Management, Engineering and Design. Organizationally, you will oversee a global team of approximately 10-15 other analysts, including both other people managers and individual contributors.   Your key responsibilities will be to advance the team’s capabilities, integrate cutting-edge analytics solutions, provide thought leadership to drive business value, and cultivate close partnerships with your business stakeholders.   Other responsibilities include:

  • Conducting rigorous data analysis to help improve customer experiences and identify profitable growth opportunities
  • Working cross-functionally with the product and technology organizations, marketing, commercial and finance teams to develop actionable insights and inform sound decision-making
  • Designing hypothesis-driven experiments; make clear, coherent and holistic recommendations based on test results
  • Leveraging Objective & Key Results (OKR) framework to identify product metrics and monitor product performance through dashboards and ad hoc analysis
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to senior-level/non-technical stakeholders
  • Being comfortable rolling up your sleeves and conduct your own analysis, while simultaneously leading a team of analytics domain experts for your product area
  • Attracting, retaining, and developing a world-class analytics team across a global footprint

Job Requirements

  • At least 10+ years of relevant work experience analyzing large, multi-dimensional data sets and synthesizing data insights into actionable recommendations. 14+ years related experience without MS/MBA degree along with 8+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Data driven mindset, with a degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or Economics; Masters or MBA preferred
  • Prior work experience in management consulting, investment banking, website analytics, and/or consumer financial products is highly valued
  • Experience across product, marketing, business intelligence and/or other analytical domains
  • A strong affinity to the consumer technology and/or financial services industries
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent people and stakeholder management skills, to include strong influencing skills and ability to navigate a global and matrixed organization
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams and building trusted relationships with business stakeholders
  • Past success in shaping business decision-making and impacting a business on a strategic level through best-in-class insights.  The ideal candidate will apply pragmatism and sound judgment to business issues, while being able to incorporate key inputs from multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to drive business value through quantitative modeling/research, measurement and insights
  • Fluent in SQL and Excel; experience with a statistical programming language (e.g., R, Python), visualization tools such as Tableau or Qlikview, and/or web analytics tools (e.g., Adobe Omniture, Google Analytics) preferred but not required
