The landscape of the payments industry has changed dramatically in the last few years and PayPal has been at the center of it. No longer are we just a “button” to enable payments on a website (although we still offer that too!) and recent advancements like Smart Payment Buttons, One Touch™, and Pay with Venmo have allowed PayPal to provide unique values to our buyers and merchants where others can not. The Director of Product for Online Payments is at the center of this journey. They will be responsible for working with the product, design, engineering, and global business teams to understand the needs of our users, how the industry is growing, and how PayPal plays a part. 


Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Create a long term, global vision for PayPal’s payment products that inspires buyers and merchants alike 
  • Lead and challenge a diverse team of senior product leaders with domains ranging from web and mobile native to payment APIs
  • Deeply understand industry payment related advancements with mobile wallets, tokenization, cryptograms, W3C payment APIs, and third party payment models and be able to show how they’ve used this to create opportunities to partner and build better experiences
  • Drive the life-cycle of a product and optimize the end-to-end customer touch points, from the first time they sign up to every email or notification sent afterwards 
  • Be an advocate for customer-first, outside-in thinking
  • Show demonstrated experience and understanding of OAUth and creating both REST APIs and SDKs, plus have a strong opinion of when to use one vs the other 


Qualifications

  • 12+ years experience in product management or business development
  • 8+ years experience in e-commerce or merchant services
  • Familiarity with e-commerce technology preferred
  • Minimum MBA or equivalent
  • Confident communicator able to drive results with VP-level contacts internally and externally
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Have a proven track record of building platforms which have been successful at enabling third party developers
  • Comfortable navigating large and complex organizations to influencing and obtain stakeholder buy in
  • Proven ability to uncover and deliver revenue through partnerships.
  • Expert negotiator in enterprise and/or technical sales
