Job Description ART, the Advanced Risk Technology team within the Global Data Sciences (GDS) organization in PayPal is in charge of implementing unique, best-of-breed fraud-detection algorithms using cutting-edge technologies such as Machine Learning and AI, and delivering systems which are highly available, scalable, distributed, and process data at web scale to aid in detecting and preventing all forms of fraud and risk affecting the PayPal $300B payments network. Our teams are positioned in 4 locations around the globe, developing real-time, offline big-data, near-real-time, we well as web applications. We achieve our goals by being agile, by working side-by-side with our customers and partners, by providing self-service and automated solutions, and by constantly maintaining high quality. As part of further strengthening our team, ART is looking for a seasoned, senior and experienced individual to lead our Architecture and Product team. You will be responsible to provide technical leadership, mentoring, and governance to our engineering team. This role requires delivering results through influence.

Responsibility:

  • Develop strong partnership with business, product and engineering leaders to define business, product and technology architecture
  • Gain deep understanding of domain and industry best practices to develop technical vision and strategy
  • Define and maintain long term architecture (LTA) with 24 months outlook
  • Effectively communicate technology strategies & trade-offs up to senior leaders and down to development teams
  • Develop, maintain, and own relationship with various in-house partners
  • Get sponsorship and alignment to ensure LTA is baked into the product roadmaps
  • Lead solution designs for easy integration with PayPal’s platforms and technology
  • Develop and govern repeatable design strategies and patterns to ensure consistent solutions
  • Guide engineering teams toward a common methodology

Skills Required:

  • Must have excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be very approachable and humble
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art architecture frameworks is a desirable
  • Able to solve complex, multi-dimensional problems
  • Mentor architects and engineers
  • 15+ years of experience in software development and architecture
  • Demonstrated experience with large-scale software development
  • Demonstrated experience with new frameworks, platform trends in the space of Big Data
  • Demonstrated executive level experience in multinational / global / corporate working environment
