We are seeking an ambitious growth-oriented marketer to lead a team that lands PayPal’s commerce tools positioning and drives both consumer & merchant growth. The Director of PayPal Shopping will lead both B2B & B2C strategies, create the positioning, define aggressive growth marketing initiatives, and lead an agile approach to deliver a successful launch and consistent adoption across our 2-sided network. The lead and their team will be responsible for driving growth through direct to consumer and merchant tactics as well as attracting new consumer growth through merchant partners. This role will also lead efforts to increase the monetization of the existing base through increased engagement. Looking for someone who is strong with both consumer and B2B marketing, a passionate leader of people, who wants to win, build culture and challenge the traditional ways of working.  This role, reporting to the Head of GTM & Global Business Marketing, will be a critical partner to the PayPal product leaders to deliver ambitious commercial growth goals and infuse a spirit of growth marketing across the team. Collaboration is in our DNA and ensuring we create momentum through amplification and earned media through strong partnerships with communications and PR will be critical. Success will be defined by the delivery of business outcomes including new consumer & merchant acquisition, increasing engagement, and changing perceptions of PayPal’s value and brand in the mind of consumers & merchants.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a team to create positioning, marketing strategies, and campaigns that drive consumer & merchant adoption and on-going engagement of Commerce Platform launch.
  • Partner with Product and Product Marketing to deeply understand functionality, input consumer and merchant insights, and translate into differentiated marketing.  
  • Deliver against growth and revenue goals for Commerce Platform launch.  
  • Refine and inform the target audience and leverage data and insights to inform acquisition and engagement strategies.  
  • Articulate Value proposition and key messaging as part of consumer and merchant engagement strategy. 
  • Define and deliver the growth marketing and communications strategy and plan to drive awareness, desire, trial and adoption across both sides of the network.
  • Collaborate across PayPal Marketing to deliver Partner Marketing, International and Growth/Media plans and initiatives.  
  • Create a great team environment and high performing team

Requisite Experience

    • Senior Marketing Leader 12+ years’ experience, 8+ experience in leadership role
    • Consumer and merchant marketing, both online and offline.  Fintech, payments and Ecommerce experience highly valued.
    • Global Operator with track record in working empathetically across multiple geographies
    • Portfolio Management experience and track record of managing complex Portfolios across dynamic products, geographies
    • Commercial Owner experience in budget and P&L accountabilities, linkage of investment to growth strategies
    • Brand expertise and understanding of integrated marketing and comms strategies 
    • Growth Marketer demonstrated capabilities in developing insight led test and learn approach across end to end funnel for customer and business impact
    • Customer Champion with demonstrated track record in designing marketing solutions with customer at center
    • Winning Consumer & Merchant Strategies – you have implemented game changing ideas that have changed the course of businesses and brands
    • Proven team transformation experience in hiring, retaining and coaching a team for peak performance
    • Brand transformation track record in the creation, transformation of a beloved global/regional brand
    • GTM programmatic execution across multiple markets with programs that have been scalable yet locally nuanced.
    • Outstanding communicator who can partner, influence, and thrive in a global matrix organization with an ability to present to stakeholders with gravitas and confidence
