PayPal is seeking Director of Acquiring & Issuance Strategic Partnerships with fanatical focus on the customer. This Leader will have great expertise in both merchant acquiring and card issuance in the US market. They will lead a team of business development managers and manage the commercial relationship of with partners such as acquirers, processors, networks, issuers and payments service providers. This leader will work collaboratively and cross-functionally within the Payments teams and the whole organization to help define and execute the payments strategy, leveraging external partners to further PayPal’s strategic business objectives.

One of the top strategic priorities for PayPal is to make PayPal available to our consumers wherever they shop – either online or in store, and at the heart for this endeavor is PayPal’s Payments Products & Engineering team. The Payments team is responsible for the design, development and optimization of PayPal's core payment systems, payment methods and payments innovation, being that a critical part of the success is to work and manage strategic partners that share the same passion and excellence for delivering great customer focused products.


  • Strategic thinker with hands on profile with ability to easily communicate strategy to different levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills and ability to apply payments expertise to real life situations.
  • Experience working with payments industry participants and relationships with processors, schemes and financial institutions.
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous and cross functional environment with proven track record of delivering projects.
  • Strong negotiation and relationships management skills.
  • Great influencer - make positive and strong personal impressions on others in order to affect the development of the business by influencing or negotiating.
  • The candidate should bring a high level of enthusiasm and the ability to organize large groups with disparate objective
  • Some level of travel is required.


  • 10+ years of relevant experience in business development, commercial areas and products of the payment services industry in the United States, focused on acquiring and issuance.
  • Deep understanding of payments landscape in the United States with hands on experience on acquiring, additional professional experience in issuance is a major plus.
  • Solid knowledge of the card acquiring value chain and processes, coupled with professional experiences in the card issuance market is a must have.
