The role of Director Core Markets - Payments Product & Engineering will report directly to and support the Director - Core Markets (UK, Germany and Australia). The PP&E team is responsible for the design, management, development and optimisation of PayPal's core payment systems, platforms, capabilities and partners. As a key member of the Australian PayPal leadership team, this position will be responsible for managing PayPal's payment capabilities and partnerships in Australia optimizing around the KPI's of performance, cost and revenue enablement. We are seeking a senior payment professional with fanatical focus on the customer and expertise in payments both online and offline who will act as both an internal and external payments expert and to lead the Australian based PP&E team.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the Payments Product & Engineering team! In this highly visible role you would work with the segment and sales and marketing teams to support growth and consuling on strategic elements that impact payments.

The requirements of the role include:

  • Driving the delivery of products, project and partnerships that optimize our KPI's including payment experience metrics and operating income
  • Be a strategic thought leader in the ever-changing payments landscape and develop business cases to support new payment initiatives / opportunities and optimise existing solutions
  • Development of strategic partnerships with networks, financial institutions and payment schemes
  • Oversee the commercial and operational management of a portfolio of PayPal’s existing relationships with external payments partners (banks, processors, networks)
  • Be a payments expert across the payment ecosystem including processing, regulation and new technologies
  • Collaborating with the segment and sales & marketing teams, to support growth, and consulting on elements that impact payments
  • Representing PayPal to the payments industry and manage local regulatory environment working closely with legal and government relations to ensure ongoing compliance for PayPal

To see success you would possess:

  • BS/BComm degree required, MBA preferred
  • 7-10 + years professional experience in Australian payments at a bank, scheme, processor or consultancy with a strong emphasis on retail and/or card payments, cash management solutions and partner management
  • A proven track record of working with cross functional groups to identify payment market needs and facilitating solution development
  • A creative ability deliver innovative solutions in the continuously evolving realm of digital payments
  • A customer centric mindset
  • A sound and deep knowledge of the payment industry including payment types, payment experience, transaction processing, risk & fraud management
  • An understanding of key payment regulations and other related regulations
  • The ability to travel
