PayPal seeks a business development director who will be part of our Global Business Development organization and partner with operations, legal, compliance, marketing, sales, finance and other shapers to drive the execution of large, international and complex partnerships across our ecosystems. The Director, Global Business Development Execution will guide PayPal GBD’s execution efforts in partnership with our operational, support and delivery unit colleagues; ensure successful completion of complex partnerships across core and international markets; enable the transition of those partnerships to the core; and develop effective and influential relationships with our global teams.

In this environment of rapid growth, PayPal seeks a business development director who will be part of our Global Business Development organization and partner with operations, legal, compliance, marketing, sales, finance and other shapers to drive the execution of large, international and complex partnerships across our ecosystems.

The Global Business Development team works under an Agile model to ensure we assemble the best teams for each specific opportunity, with the right combination of front resources, solutions development and business execution to bring the best of PayPal to every large partnership opportunity.

The Director, Global Business Development Execution will guide PayPal GBD’s execution efforts in partnership with our operational, support and delivery unit colleagues; ensure successful completion of complex partnerships across core and international markets; enable the transition of those partnerships to the core; and develop effective and influential relationships with our global teams. This role will report to the Director, Global Business Development Execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with partners, front units, delivery and control colleagues, and deal scrum teams to ensure successful execution of large complex partnerships in our ‘white space’ business development effort
  • Work closely with our cross-functional teams to develop operational plans and manage programs end to end to ensure on-time, in-full delivery of deal terms as agreed with the external partners
  • Oversee program management on multiple deals, managing schedules and delivery progress
  • Ensure alignment across PayPal and lead internal efforts in ensuring successful implementation of business development deals, establishing and monitoring performance metrics
  • Promote on-time execution across the organization; acting as the ‘connective tissue’ that links all aspects of the deal execution together
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the company

Domain expertise and technical skills

  • Deep business/product/marketing knowledge on payments and fintech
  • Knowledge in at least one of our disciplines: International Growth; Financial Opportunity; New commerce; Disruptive Technology and Regulation

Communication and influence

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers
  • Experience in Program Management, specifically coordinating the implementation of technical and business solutions
  • Facilitation skills; able to run large meetings, especially comfortable driving to decision and reinforcing accountability
  • Strong written AND verbal communication skills
  • Excellent judgment, mature personality, and experience working with executives
  • Team player, pro-active and action-oriented, anticipates needs, is assertive, and is highly accountable
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and thrives in a dynamic, global, fluid, matrix environment

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years of work experience in business development and/or program management 
  • Bachelor’s degree; M.B.A. or other advanced technical degree preferred
