Working across all parts of the business & product, you’ll have the opportunity to provide strategic support, financial/operational guidance, and thought leadership to many of PayPal’s newest initiatives, major partnerships and global business opportunities. The ideal candidate should have the ability to assess business/product objectives and opportunities – feeding the financial modeling of costs, synergies and upside – to support the business & product stakeholders in making prudent decisions around business models, investments and pricing.

The Strategic and New Ventures Finance team works on providing strategic and financial insight to cutting edge financial innovation happening at PayPal. The team works on critical partnerships and product launches for the company, providing significant long-term and short-term impact and supporting senior executives in Business Development, Core payments, Products and Marketing. The team has visibility at the senior most levels of the company and has dual reporting to both VP of Finance and Analytics and VP of Strategy.  Successful candidates will offer a strategic perspective, sound business judgment, deep analytical capabilities, and a collaborative working style.  Ability to handle multiple projects and lead a high caliber team are key to the success of this role.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the team providing strategic insight and financial support for long-term planning, significant partnerships and new ventures
  • Partner with Global Business Development, Product Organization and Corporate Strategy team on building business cases, financial models, pricing proposals and sales support for some of the largest and most important partnerships for the company
  • Direct the long-term strategic/financial planning process across the entire organization. Secure alignment across a multitude of stakeholders including Global Business Development, Corporate Strategy, Product leaders and Business Unit owners to ensure representation, input, and coordination among these key stakeholders
  • Develop compelling story lines and supporting slide decks to be leveraged by Senior Leaders during long-term planning executive decision making offsites
  • Collaborate with business units & product on major new ventures to construct and validate business case and assess impact on the business and company P&L
  • Leverage your own resources and broader PayPal’s Analytics teams to gain insight into current business and deals and provide thought leadership to relevant stakeholders
  • Support Corporate Development team with global M&A and investments from developing initial business cases and financial models to due diligence and integration

PREFERRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of relevant financial modeling, consulting or strategy experience
  • Prior experience in building and leading a team
  • Superior analytic capabilities with strong insight and understanding of how a business operates.
  • Experience building and maintaining complex financial models, developing and using financial modeling tools & financial statement construction
  • Talent for synthesizing complex ideas and communicating them in ways others can easily understand (both verbally and via email/PowerPoint)
  • Versatile.  Ability to thrive in a cross-functional environment while juggling multiple responsibilities.
  • MBA or relevant graduate degree from top-tier institution or similar academic / professional experience (investment banking / management consulting / strategic finance).
  • Experience in high growth / payment industry preferred.

EDUCATION: Masters Degree or Equivalent
