PayPal Developer Platform & Experiences org is hiring a senior product leader who can transform the internal developer experience and take developer productivity to the next level. PayPal has hundreds of delivery teams constantly iterating on thousands of microservices, operating in a polyglot ecosystem. This complex system must service billions of dollars in payment volume securely, reliably, and efficiently while supporting rapid feature development and a high rate of change. This visionary product leader will be responsible for all the core application, configuration, and messaging frameworks, lead the vision for native mobile developer experience, and oversee next generation capabilities such as service mesh and automated CI/CD of application infrastructure, enterprise wide. The ideal candidate has deep domain knowledge combined with a strong customer perspective and passion for enabling developers to do their best work. They must also be tireless advocates and community builders within the developer ecosystem as well as establish credibility and influence across the leadership of all organizational units.

Responsibilities:

  • This is a leadership role responsible for a team of product managers enabling the success and productivity of all PayPal developers and the business.
  • Develop a deep emotional and technical understanding of the pains and challenges in the developer community and be their number one champion in driving continuous improvement.
  • Own and drive the strategy and vision of developer frameworks, platforms, mobile CI/CD, and best practices, including adoption of new technologies and creating innovative, patentable solutions.
  • Establish a strong network of platform contributors and encourage collaborate development of core app frameworks to accelerate velocity.
  • Drive effective, mature Agile practices and continuous execution improvements within your teams.
  • Provide a strong understanding of native mobile developer platforms and bring broad thought leadership to the next generation mobile developer experience.
  • Build, coach and manage a strong team of platform product managers that set the standard and can up level the overall talent of the extended organization.
  • Bring a strong industry perspective that can help shape and evolve the internal PayPal developer experience to be as good or better than other leading technology organizations.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of product management experience owning product line strategy, product roadmaps and successfully bringing highly technical, platform products to market.
  • Personal experience as a developer highly encouraged, including a well-informed opinion of the developer mindset and what’s most important to their success.
  • Very high EQ and ability to empathize and communicate with customers and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Track record of relentless customer development.
  • Solid experience designing and delivering CI/CD solutions for mobile application development.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive change in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Fearless leader able to constructively advance opinionated perspective, well-informed by industry and customer analysis, to all levels of organization.
  • Ability to think and communicate at multiple levels, from conceptual product architecture to minute implementation details at the same time.
  • Excellent collaboration, coaching, and team building skills.
  • Is precise in thinking, communication, and tactical execution.
  • Has a strong executive presence.
  • Practices extreme ownership.
