EMEA Digital Marketing Transformation Team

The EMEA Digital Marketing Transformation team is a very well regarded and rapidly growing function tasked with accelerating PayPal’s marketing capability across the region. The team is made up of (1) Channel Teams with subject matter expertise across Paid Media, Website, SEO, Database Marketing, Email & Onsite (2) Marketing Operations who drive best in class campaigns via on and off shore teams covering Web, Ad, Email, Database & Process Ops, and (3) a Digital Delivery Team leading change & project management of new Marketing / Advertising technology and supporting Centres of Excellence.

Key projects are being driven forward in the areas of Digital Advertising, Website, CRM, Data/Analytics, Digital Planning & Operations. The team are looking for high caliber, self-motivated and results driven individuals to help lead & execute change at this exciting time.

Digital Marketing Solutions Architect, EMEA

The Digital Marketing Solutions Architect, EMEA will report to the Director/Head of Digital Delivery. It is a new role for an ambitious candidate looking for a challenge. You will be responsible for establishing a 1st class Digital Delivery team capable of scaling Marketing and Advertising technologies regionally to maximise opportunites to drive increased revenues, NNA (Net New Actives) and engagement.

Location: London.

Travel: As required. Main destinations include San Jose (Global HQ), EMEA Marketing hubs in Paris and Berlin. Other EMEA countries, New York and Singapore also necessary from time to time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the Martech platforms used across EMEA by dozens of marketers, monitoring performance, defining new use cases and reporting bugs to optimize output.
  • Drive technology pilots and MVP to enable product-market fit assessment in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Be the point of escalation for technology topics across marketing for the EMEA region.
  • Support business users to ensure day-to-day issues get quickly resolved.
  • Play a key role in scaling analytical capability of the team to influence business-wide projects and improve decision-making.
  • Enable day-to-day business operations by ensuring  data quality, data models consistency.
  • Consult on technology capabilities for all key leaders in the team (i.e. Head of Website, Head of Media, Head of CRM, Head of Planning) to enable them to take the right decisions.
  • Create learning and development materials for PayPal marketers across EMEA.
  • Ensure required skills are held within EMEA region across all internal & external teams to ensure new marketing technology is adopted at speed & at scale (multiple regions).
  • Research & benchmark competitors, new entrants and other industries / geographies to maintain a cutting edge marketing technology stack to supporting our high growth business.

Experience required:

  • Excellent understanding of Marketing Technology stacks across Digital, CRM and Asset and Content production and delivery plus practical experience selecting and deploying tools within organization with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience translating marketing strategy into technology roadmaps and executing plans to ensure marketing technology meets business goals.
  • Not only someone who can articulate technical plans and requirements but can roll up sleeves to partner with other internal and external teams to make them a reality.
  • Enterprise Architect with wide technical and nontechnical skillset.
  • Experience across Business, Data and Application architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience of a second and third level expertise in agile project management and structured change management, applied to Marketing technology deployments.
  • Experience working with databases to analyse data and data models to extract insights.
  • Experience using code repositories and reading code for functional analysis.
  • Undergraduate degree from a leading university.

  • Ability to articulate clear problem statements and use cases coming from unstructured business requests.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity while providing non ambiguous artefacts for all stakeholders.
  • Ability to achieve continuous delivery across the complex ecosystem of platforms and tools.
  • Experience of driving marketing automation within a clearly defined governance framework.
  • Good understanding of service design principles.
  • Analytical thinker and data-driven decision maker able to establish clear areas of focus for the product and engineering teams over near and long-term planning horizons.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support stakeholders across multiple business areas.
  • Results focused and highly energetic to drive the defined team and organizational goals.
  • Ability to lead project teams across rapidly changing structures within a high-growth business.
  • Given the growth nature of this business, individual must be pragmatic and capable of working in a fast moving and entrepreneurial environment
  • Passionate about PayPal, will be a strong external ambassador / advocate for the business and will be highly collaborative with the ability to work successfully across teams, regions and functions.
  • Strong business understanding and orientation and effectively handles multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities
  • Highly detailed with a systematic approach, sense of responsibility and strong, positive customer focus
  • Strong excel modeling and powerpoint / presentations skills.
