At PayPal Marketing, we have built an internal shared services team to help plan, execute, measure, optimize, and report digital campaigns for a variety of marketing stakeholders across the business. The Paid Search Manager role will aim to increase the health of digital programs by managing and optimizing paid search campaigns, measuring results, and uncovering proactive insights for future planning. This person will be responsible for driving strategy, innovation, and project management within the Paid Search Channel. The Paid Channel Strategy & Optimization (PCSO) team works with a team of digital channel planners, which, in turn, support the marketing needs of stakeholders across all Business Units. This role will focus mainly on driving new customer acquisition but will also play a part in the development of both upper and lower funnel marketing strategies as we expand beyond acquisition strategies. This role will have ownership over specific marketing campaigns while partnering closely with other marketing channel leads and analytics/experiment partners in order to drive Sign Up, Activation, Cross-Sell and Product Adoption for Consumer Marketing in North America. He/she will work with the both internal and external teams to improve overall creative strategy and performance, test and launch experiments, and improve PayPal’s overall end-to-end customer experiences. This role will support the Sr. Manager of Paid Search at PayPal. The ideal candidate for this role will have several years agency-side experience in supporting the data-driven optimization and execution of paid media along with a strong knowledge of today's digital ecosystem. He/she must demonstrate an expert-level understanding and a passion for paid search marketing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop Paid Search Strategy in partnership with Channel Planning and Paid Search Senior Manager
  • Accountable for pacing, forecasting, and budget management across all paid search accounts
  • Accountable for delivery of all projects within agreed upon timelines across all growth squad initiatives and always-on programs
  • Daily point of contact for stakeholders across the business on all paid search-related workstreams
  • Work closely with Senior Channel Manager to create business cases for incremental investment or advanced investment in additional ad technology
  • Oversee the planning and execution of paid search account opportunities aligned with meeting and/or exceeding channel performance goals
  • Actively run all weekly calls/meetings with Channel Planning as a thought leader
  • Liaise and collaborate with other channels and cross-functional teams to align on prioritization of work and strategy for our media
  • Relationship management with engine partners
  • Facilitate or QA daily, weekly and monthly reporting to evaluate performance of media against forecasted goals (unique goals across business units and campaigns) 
  • QA testing frameworks and KPI considerations for launching new campaigns and improving existing programs as presented by Associate Managers and agency team
  • Evaluate channel allocation to assess the effectiveness of the current channels being utilized, and recommend additional channels and/or budget reallocations
  • Partner closely with Channel Manager and Senior Manager to execute larger digital strategies
  • Develop data views and visuals to assist in executive reporting and storytelling of digital channel health and performance
  • Ensure best practices are in place across accounts as well as maintaining PCSO Playbook over time
  • Provide POVs on industry updates to larger Growth Team
  • Partner closely with marketing analytics teams to answer marketing questions as they relate to performance of digital media.
  • Be the strategic leader - Identify gaps and take action to close them, serve as the voice of the franchise leading the path forward to establish PayPal as a world class marketing organization in the small and medium business space

Required Skills

  • 5-7 years digital marketing experience – managing direct reports and medium-to-large, cross-functional teams. 
  • 5+ years directly managing paid media buys, including targeting, campaign optimization and measurement. Agency experience is a plus; 5+ years hands-on experience managing SEM campaigns
  •  Expert knowledge of ad product suites incl. Google Ads, Search Ads 360, Bing Ads, Google Analytics 
  • Strong managerial experience, including experience developing and mentoring a team
  • Highly competent in creating executive-level decks, strong data visualizations.  Must demonstrate an executive-ready presence, and the ability to present to members of the leadership team
  • Able to think strategically, prioritize effectively and identify and resolve problems in a dynamic environment
  • Proven record of streamlining campaign management and optimization processes within Search platforms; ability to create processes to streamline ad operations processes through additional teams (internally or externally).
  • Bachelor Degree required, MBA/MS preferred.
  • Able to articulate search’s role within larger digital marketing ecosystem 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and strong analytical capabilities
  • Expert on today’s search landscape as well as across digital ad technology; remains up to speed on new in-platform betas and testing opportunities 
  •  Deep knowledge of audience segmentation, 1st, 2nd and 3rd party data sources; can translate audience segments into targetable audience attributes within display and programmatic. 
  • Display strong project management skills to effectively prioritize standard tasks, test activations, team bandwidth and overall client deliverables
  • High levels of proactivity, accountability, organization, and agility
