DevOps engineer supporting production AWS environments.

Job Description Summary:  DevOps Engineer (Grade 23)

This role will involve primary support of the PayPal Business Loan (PPBL) AWS-based Site network.  As a DevOps engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the health of all AWS environments, including Production, Development and UAT environments.  This will include troubleshooting production issues, building and deploying EC2 servers and S3 storage buckets, and ensuring compliance with internal Information Security policy.  In addition, you will frequently engage with developers and senior DevOps engineers on project work.

Candidate should be comfortable with:

  • Core AWS components, including EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, and Lambda
  • Access control features of Amazon Accounts and VPCs
  • Windows Active Directory
  • Amazon asset-tagging, budgeting, and reporting features
  • DataDog or other whole-network monitoring & alerting systems
  • Monitoring/updating/managing a ticket queue with the goal of providing timely updates to clients and management
  • Amazon certification paths

Preferred Candidates will demonstrate:

  • Real world experience (at least 2 + years) supporting Windows and Linux based systems in the AWS cloud
  • 2-Year (or higher) College degree in a relevant technical or business area, or equivalent technical certifications
  • Experience supporting Agile Web software development teams
  • Logical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Emphasis on task quality (be thorough, detail-oriented, responsible)
  • An ability to work efficiently and effectively without sacrificing quality
  • Strong communications skills and an ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Achievement (or active pursuit) of at least one AWS certification (e.g. AWS Cloud Practitioner)
  • A desire to learn and further their IT career
