PayPal has made significant changes to our Data Security Platforms and is looking for a Senior Data Security Product Architect to design additional products, enhance automation and shape/promote the proactive security practices behind these changes.

Job Requirements

  • Defines Data Security product vision, capabilities required, viable solutions for PayPal Holdings disparate environments around data protection.  Ability to define and articulate strategies, goals, outcomes, implementation plan as well as drive cross functional implementation teams to completion measuring capability as well as efficacy of solutions
  • Serves as Product Owner/Product Architect for data security capabilities to define strategy (what) and execution (how). May serve as scrum team master for one or more capabilities to deliver with cross functional teams.
  • Analyze database implementation methods to make sure they are in line with company policies and any external regulations that may apply
  • Provide data security architecture guidance on various use cases to product engineering teams
  • Perform security design reviews and provide subject matter expertise to assess security implications for introduction of new or different technologies within the environment and proper data protection strategies.
  • Identify security gaps, evaluate and propose appropriate remediation strategy
  • Actively engage with Compliance, Privacy and Data Governance on data security aspects


  • Ability to work across diverse teams and needs, collaboration is a must
  • Must have experience and good understanding of Data Lifecycle and Data Security controls, tools and capabilities necessary for Data Protection. 
  • Must have experience designing and implementing large and complex software platforms across diverse environments. 
  • Must have a good understanding of database platforms spanning relational, NoSQL, and Big Data platforms as well as unstructured data. 
  • Must have a good understanding of database security controls and experience with enterprise deployment of those controls
  • Experience with a broad set of data security technologies in on-prem and cloud environment including data protection, cryptography, identity and access management (IAM), access controls, security logging and monitoring etc.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture and working as part of a cross-functional team to define and implement solutions across disparate and large environments.  Proven ability to work in distributed systems
  • Proficiency with Structured, noSQL and unstructured data stores
  • Proficiency and proven experience with design and implementation of large distributed software platforms and capabilities. 

Background required:

  • 7+ years experience with Data Platforms as DBA and/or Data Architect in large and complex environments
  • Proven experience in ability to design Software solutions, drive development teams and implementation with success metrics
  • 5+ years in Security role, developing and implementing solutions across large and complex environments
  • Proven experience and knowledge in application development and deployment
  • Proven experience and knowledge in complex and diverse technology infrastructure
  • Experience and knowledge in Predictive Modeling and Machine Learning
