This role offers a unique opportunity to innovate and improve PayPal’s fraud prevention and detection technologies. Design, develop and maintain data-driven solutions for PayPal consumer risk service. Make sound decisions that balance risk, user experience and financial performance. Complete assignment with multiple steps, guided by defined processes and project requirements proficiently. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results on matters of significance to the business.


  • High proficiency in technical / data-mining skills and working knowledge of dealing with large volumes of data using tools such as SQL, SAS, Hadoop, Python or other programming/scripting languages (Perl, R, etc.).
  • Work on assignments of intermediate complexity with minimum supervision, and constantly seek improvement within defined tasks. 
  • Good understanding of general business trends and directions to be able to put own work in a broad business context.
  • Drive effective communication with collaborators to achieve the optimal level of decisioning and business results.


  • Master’s degree in related field and 2+ years related professional work experience
  • Understanding of PayPal’s products and e-commerce risk patterns
  • Working knowledge of SQL, SAS, Hadoop, Python or other programming languages
  • Good communication and problem solving skills
