Works with PayPal business units and Product Dev teams to design, develop and deliver data solutions on one of the largest data platforms in the world.
Contributes to the design and development of Data Solutions or Data Pipeline (example: be one of three engineers working on Data requirements of PayPal's project or bring Innovation in Customer Service, or Supporting Data aggregation for an Executive Dashboard or Report on TPV growth trend etc.).
Spends most of the time developing data pipelines/ETL code for solving various data requirements using traditional ETL tools but also has experience & skills for building custom data pipelines.
Excited to work with traditional, big data and NoSQL Data platforms. ETL Code is well-commented and typically improves after one or more code reviews.
Produces code that is sufficiently supported by unit and regression tests for data quality and sustainable process.
Supports PayPal business units by providing data in a ready-to-use form to data analysts and data scientists for Business insights, predictive analytics, machine learning, etc.
Responsible for managing 1 to 2 data process applications, providing necessary support and maintenance activities.
Should be comfortable working in an agile environment and with cross-functional teams, should have appetite to learn and be flexible to pickup new technology

  • 5+ years of experience in the IT industry, experience in Data Technology space is preferred.
  • Advanced Shell or Perl scripting experience or proficiency in any programming language like Python, C, C++ or CORE Java
  • Working experience in any MPP systems (Certified Teradata developer is a plus); Should have strong SQL programming skills
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts
  • Working knowledge on any ETL tool (ie. Informatica/ Ab-Initio) is preferable.
  • Experience in Metadata tools (Informatica MDM)/ Lineage tools is plus.
  • Knowledge of Scheduling Tools is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Expertise in database programming and performance tuning techniques; Teradata experience is a plus
  • Familiar with data movement techniques and best practices to handle large volumes of data
  • Experience with data warehousing architecture and data modeling best practices
  • Experience with File Systems, server architectures, and distributed systems
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to take initiative to contribute beyond basic responsibilities
  • Working experience in an Agile methodology is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of Hadoop, HBase and Hive is highly preferred
