The Cyber Intelligence Engineering team is looking for a strong Python3 programmer to help develop and uplift our external threat intelligence gathering platform.

The Cyber Intelligence Engineering team develops solutions that give PayPal visibility and insight about elements and entities outside of the PayPal network. The team gathers data from a large variety of sources and delivers intelligence to inform and improve PayPal’s ability to protect its networks, systems, and users. The Cyber Intelligence Engineering team is seeking a curious, collaborative, and creative individual with solid Python programming experience to further add and enhance our portfolio of tools.


This role gives an opportunity to work alongside industry leading security professionals in a cutting-edge group. The key objective of the candidate would be to support overall goals of Information Security through developing tools and techniques to collect and distribute intelligence about a variety of knowledge artifacts found outside of PayPal’s network.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop new tools in Python3 to gather intelligence data
  • Update and enhance the team’s existing codebase
  • Create and maintain infrastructure, including containerized and serverless solutions
  • Collaborate with team members and external partners to deliver complete and effective solutions
  • Document and communicate technical concepts to users of all skill levels

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an analytical field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Natural Sciences
  • 2+ years experience with Python
  • Knowledge in Python best practices, such as documentation, Pep8, testing
  • Excellent, concise verbal and written communication
  • Must be willing to be in the Scottsdale office
  • Preferred: Experience with cloud infrastructure (Digital Ocean, Linode, AWS)
  • Preferred: Knowledge of information security and/or networking concepts
  • Ideal candidate is a team oriented, self-directed continual learner with a passion for asking big questions and creating solutions to find answers
