Successful applicants for this role will join a strong, high-energy group with one of the most exciting charters at PayPal. This team is responsible for dramatically growing the US consumer business. Members of this team act as entrepreneurial general managers to achieve this goal—partnering with leaders across the company and pulling levers within Marketing as well as Business Development, Pricing, Product, etc. This is a unique, exciting role at PayPal with disproportionate opportunity for driving impact.

As a Marketing intern on this team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to Strategy Development: Build an understanding of the consumer mindset, PayPal’s value proposition for consumers and competitive landscapes. You may be asked to dive deep into competitive product experience and consumer messaging or synthesize consumer research & survey results. You will make actionable recommendations that will influence the team’s strategy & marketing plans.
  • Drive Key Pieces of Marketing Execution – You will learn the key steps (consumer targeting, creative briefing, and messaging refinement) and systems to launch a broad scale or targeting marketing campaign. You may execute and launch messages via a wide range of channels during the internship and will be asked to measure results and make recommendations to drive future success post launch.


  • Undergraduate - rising senior in fall 2018
  • Highly motivated with strong academic performance. Prior coursework in Analytics (e.g. Data Decisions) is a plus. The position requires someone who is highly analytical and strategic to identify opportunities, draft hypotheses and make recommendations based on insights and data.
  • Act as a self-starter with ability to proactively own and drive project and
  • Mature and capable of building strong working relationships with internal PayPal partners and exhibit highly effective communication skills to work with and present to a variety of internal stakeholders and leaders
  • Exhibit understanding of general marketing principles (coursework in Marketing Strategy, Consumer Research is a plus)
  • Proficient in PowerPoint & Excel
  • Prior internship in consulting, retail, big tech/ CPG brands, and/or payments products/ financial services company is a strong plus. At the very least, he/she will show curiosity to learn about the payments space. We will be open to the right general candidate who can demonstrate knowledge and passion for this role at PayPal.
