PayPal office of the CIO (OCIO) Employee Technology Solutions support the technologies that power our employees, from Legal to HR, Corporate Communications and more. As the Manager, HR Application Configuration you will have responsibility for the configuration team supporting complex, multi-disciplinary projects across multiple HR applications, primarily Workday, in the development of our technology roadmap.

Job Description

  • Provide coaching, guidance and day to day management to a global team of configuration resources working across our HR applications, including Workday, Salesforce, Learning and others.
  • Communicate organizational objectives; inspire and motivate a global team to achieve results.

  • Lead team to continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
  • Communicate and collaborate with executive staff, business and product management partners.
  • Manage internal customer relationships and champion the employee and business stakeholder experience.
  • Provide consultation to business and engineering partners.
  • Collaborate with business partners, the HR Technology Agile team, and other teams to better support and optimize our HR business processes.
  • Develop and document technical standards for configuration and standards for business process documentation.
  • Develop support and issue resolution standards and service level agreements for the configuration team.
  • Be the subject matter expert on how to configure HR systems to meet identified business needs and the upstream and downstream process impacts and implications across multiple systems. 
  • Understand system technical strategy and new functionality and map to opportunities to extend and optimize HR technology implementations to support global HR strategy, meet global business needs and abide by our compliance/security/regulatory requirements.
  • Recommend continued process improvements, implementation best practices, system enhancements and new applications to support business strategies and operational needs, including proactive review of existing implementations against industry best practices.

Responsibilities include

  • Technical expert on system configuration and implementation of new processes or programs in existing systems or new systems.
  • Subject matter expert on technology solutions including Workday and other applications supporting our HR lines of business, recommending the best way to configure a system to meet a business objective, while anticipating upstream and downstream process impacts and implications across multiple systems.
  • Work in an Agile environment, partnering with both our technical and business teams to solve for business needs in an optimized matter.
  • Expert on our implementation of core HR systems including Workday, proactively identifying improvement opportunities and ways to optimize our technical solutions.
  • Ensure HR systems configuration meets SOX and other corporate compliance obligations as well as data privacy best practices.

Qualifications

  • Ability to engage, envision, and collaborate to build solutions that encompass the end to end processes that drive HR services.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on configuration experience with Workday HCM.  Experience with other HR software applications / HR Information systems a plus.  Workday certification a plus.
  • Experience managing a team of technical resources, including off shore resources.
  • BS degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in Management Information Systems or Computer Science.
  • Demonstration and mastery of IT/Systems change management and configuration management best practices.
  • Knowledge of HR functions and business processes (Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Compensation, Time & Leave, Benefits, Learning & HR Service Center).
  • Responsive, fast-paced decision making skills with the ability to drive business results.
  • Expert knowledge of systems development life cycle (SDLC), including proven experience in implementing HR software applications.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems logically and systematically.
  • Highly flexible, ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in order to execute well in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR systems (Workday) in addition to MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.
  • Support integrations issue resolution between systems.
  • Support Workday and other HR systems including Recruiting, Compensation and Benefits, Learning, and Salesforce.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels including senior leadership.
