Reporting to Director, Communications, PayPal UK, Ireland and Canada, you will help build and execute strategic communications to our target audiences across media, consumers, businesses, enterprise, regulators and stakeholders. You understand all aspects of a comprehensive communications program that covers – earned, paid, social media, thought leadership and executive communications. You have a strong nose for news and understand how to build compelling content and channel strategies to get our messages out to audiences. You are a motivated, self-starter and team player who knows how to lead and collaborate with internal and agency teams.

Responsibilities: What your day-to-day looks like?

  • Create and manage an external communications strategy to enhance PayPal’s reputation in the market and drive a deeper connection with customers. 
  • Drive awareness of PayPal’s values, purpose, products and brand promise to media, customers and key stakeholders across several channels. 
  • Develop communication strategies and campaigns that are firmly rooted in business goals and cover consumer, small businesses and enterprise business customers. 
  • Work closely with consumer, small business and enterprise teams to research and gain a deeper understanding of customer insights and data that help inform communications plans and strategies. 
  • Build, nurture and manage relationships with media, reporters and influencers to present and enhance PayPal’s reputation in the UK and Ireland, and act as a spokesperson. 
  • Create an executive profiling plan and support PayPal spokespeople in the UK and Ireland with training and messaging. 
  • Work closely with the global and EMEA communications teams, business, marketing, product, government relations and social innovation teams to ensure objectives, tactics, and actions are aligned and coordinated. 
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and measurement for relevant campaigns to demonstrate return on investment (ROI).  
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the Fintech industry in the UK and all key players. Be the eyes and ears of PayPal when it comes to surfacing trends, developments, and opportunities for PayPal to be a thought leader in this space. 
  • Day-to-day management of leaders, teams, stakeholders and agency partners.

Qualifications / Attributes 

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of Communications/Public Relations experience. Preferably a mix of in-house and agency experience. 
  • High level of professionalism and judgement with the ability to handle confidential information with appropriate care. 
  • An excellent communicator who can explain complex subjects in compelling language.  
  • Thrives in a global, fast-paced, and dynamic work environment. 
  • Ability to manage high job complexity and constant multi-tasking. Well organised, able to prioritise well, work efficiently. 
  • Adaptable to change and shows flexibility as business structures or priorities change. 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels and across organisational and geographic boundaries. 
  • An ownership mentality – sees tasks through to completion. Goes the extra step to find answers to problems that may fall outside his/her area of expertise.   
  • Eager to learn new things and apply knowledge to innovate, improve/simplify processes.   
  • Proactive self-starter who can uncover and develop content that will resonate with media, customers, partners and stakeholders. 
  • Proven track record of developing successful communication strategies and campaigns that are strongly rooted in business goals. 
  • Exhibit strong understanding of earned and paid media, trends, and measurement approaches. 
  • Excellent creative writing skills. A storyteller who can translate narratives into different formats – from brand narratives to blog posts, social media posts and presentations for executives. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
