General Summary The Seller Risk management group is looking for a highly talented and self-motivated leader to join our team. The candidate would be a part of the PayPal Risk team located in Chandler, AZ. The individual will supervise a team of underwriters who are responsible for managing the North America commercial portfolio and will report to the Commercial Underwriting Manager. This person should be skilled in early identification and evaluation of deteriorating financial situations in order to minimize losses, effective at leading a team of analysts and providing sound and thorough decisions on risk cases, and able to support overall risk goals through detailed analysis and decision making that results in loss reduction and better customer experience.

Specific Duties 
•    Supervise a team of Underwriters and provide decision/signoffs on high risk cases and provide thorough guidance and feedback on case work to Underwriters that encourage sound and thoughtful decision making 
•    Actively coach and manage direct reports on review work and behaviors, providing regular feedback and developing employees for professional growth and development
•    Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of Underwriting best practices to ensure organization is competitive in the marketplace
•    Monitor and manage team and individual productivity and review case quality to align with individual and department goals 
•    Prepare and present reports for tracking and trending on team productivity towards organizational goals for management
•    Stay current on merchant industry trends that impact the Commercial Merchant segment.
•    Collaborate with internal business partners to obtain understanding of merchants, and tactically mitigate risk exposure.  
•    Analyze complex financial statements and high-risk business models
•    Perform other related duties and assignments as requested by management

Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or equivalent experience
•    3+ years of experience in Commercial Lending, Business Credit Underwriting and/or portfolio risk management 
•    2+ years of leadership experience in providing signoff/concurrence decisions on risk cases, coaching and development of team, and feedback on case work
•    Experience in merchant payment industry or related commercial lending/banking industry and a strong understanding of high-risk business models 
•    Experience collaborating and building productive relationships across multiple departments
•    Aptitude for data-driven decision making with a history of driving process improvement and efficiency using prospect and customer data.
•    Excel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment; manage changes, set and follow priorities and execute on vision and strategy.
•    Experience in implementing risk management/underwriting and risk processes and procedures and training teams in the execution of those strategies.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
