The Commercial Seller Risk team is looking for a highly talented and self-motivated individual to join our team. The candidate would be a part of the PayPal Risk team located in Chandler, AZ. The Merchant Risk analyst will be responsible for monitoring merchant account activity to identify financial exposure and bank network/ association violations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong array of skills including project management, risk management, credit analysis and communications expertise.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Perform Credit write-up’s for management review and submit for concurrence, on accounts over certain risk thresholds.
  • Review and assess financial statements, including, but not limited to, P & L’s, Balance Sheets, Tax Returns, etc.
  • Management of specific large merchants and high risk segments.
  • Review daily queue to ensure SLA achievement to secure & maintain an efficient Credit & risk exposure on merchants.
  • Escalate output of daily merchant risk triggers for specific merchant segments.
  • Place merchant funds on hold to secure & maintain credit risk exposure.
  • Contact cardholders & issuing banks to validate transactions.
  • Request invoices, proof of shipment from merchants to calculate & validate delivery risk exposure.
  • Directly interact and negotiate with merchants to build additional reserves or issue credits to offset chargeback liability. 
  • The Merchant Risk analyst will be responsible for daily queue management  and pending account follow-up until risk exposure on accounts are mitigated.






JOB QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have the following attributes / abilities:





Education & Experience

  • College degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Operations Research or equivalent work experience required.  MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience managing risk in the merchant acquiring industry, particularly in the high risk segment.
  • Strong / Excellent Financial Skills Ability to decision complex accounts and understand risk implications Commitment to Company and Departmental Focus Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Verbal and Written Strong Urgency / prioritization and Execution Skills Strong follow-up skills (outstanding items) Effective interaction with different departments throughout PayPal.
  • Moderate Credit Diversity Strong/Excellent PC skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) Strong organizational and planning skills Effective Team Interaction Skills.
  • Experience in the credit risk management and financial services fields preferred. 
  • Proven record in problem solving and business innovation.
