As the Commercial Monitoring Analyst, you will conduct risk views of PayPal sellers through assessment, decisioning, communication and delivery processes for timely risk mitigation and provide assistant to junior analysts.

What does the role entail?

Assess: Conducting a comprehensive review on every account by assessing and analyzing identity, intent, business model, and financial stability of the merchant. Connecting the dots of the merchant story

  • A subject matter expert in the holistic review
  • Identify the merchant's business model using industry knowledge and share the best practice with the team
  • Understand and conduct deep-dive analysis on the intent of the risk event
  • Determine the correct investigational techniques and internal tools
  • Ask pertinent questions to identify and resolve the risk event effectively
  • Assess the PayPal's exposure in relation to the identified risk
  • Building knowledge of several business industries with varying levels of risk

Decide: Letting the assessment guide you toward a logical and ethical decision with a balanced approach towards loss and experience

  • Use analytical approach to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Consistently reach the correct outcome for PayPal and our merchant. Leverages the merchant review narrative to reach the correct risk mitigation approach.
  • Review policies are leveraged as guidelines. Knows when to reach an outcome which is an exception to policy
  • Articulate and support all the components that support your decision.
  • Incorporate elements of financial health into decision making
  • Understand the global economy and its impact in decision making

    Communicate: Tailoring every interaction as a value-add to our merchants and PayPal to create stronger partnerships, customer loyalty, establish risk management culture and growth enablement for both PayPal and the merchant life cycle

  • Communicate risk actions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Educate stakeholders on why risk actions are taken and how it will add value to merchants and PayPal
  • Articulate and support all the components that support your decision
  • Manage complicated escalations from internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate shared values and professionalism in role
  • Communicate best practices with teammates

Skills: You would -

  • Have a college degree and/or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related fields, or equivalent work experience
  • Have 2+ years of relevant experience, in underwriting, credit risk assessment, fraud management, or transaction processing
  • Able to understand the financial statement and conduct the analysis
  • Be a team player, with strong interpersonal & communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Be highly curious and thoughtful - a proactive self-starter with a sense of urgency and bias for action, under a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to function in multiple queues covering a variety of tasks
  • Fluent in English. Another regional language in North Asia as a plus
  • Be familiar with MS Office, internet research & software applications
