PayPal is seeking an enthusiastic Integration Engineer to help us strengthen our world-class business. In this role you will embed with platform infrastructure teams to guide the migrate of their workloads into PayPal’s secure cloud deployments. You will work across multiple public cloud service providers, collaborating closely with platform teams and other embedded cloud engineers to ensure success for our customers.  You will be responsible for developing reusable integration roadmaps, highlighting automation opportunities, and identifying technical convergence.  You will be constantly improving the engagement model and capabilities so that they can be used on the next project.   

• Promote a culture of automation, transparency, and accountability.  
• Identify requirements for cloud-based, immutable infrastructure based on business requirements  
• Advocate for the needs of the customer 
• Develop a library of integration patterns 
• Assist with troubleshooting and triage efforts during incidents.  
• Assist with development of root cause analysis and participate in postmortem exercises.  
• Create, review, and improve documentation for tools and processes used in support of the infrastructure.  

Requirements:  

• 5+ years of cloud technology experience
• Strong understanding of AWS, GCP, and/or Azure and cloud migration patterns 
• Experience and/or strong understanding of Docker, Terraform, Packer, Ansible, or Jenkins
• Ability to manage technical requirement across multiple disciplines and groups  
• Fundamental Linux skills 
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code  
• Scripting or coding experience with one or more languages (e.g., bash, python).  
• Strong understanding of the OSI layering model, with a focus on Layer 7 protocols (HTTP/S, DNS, NFS, SMTP, SSH).  
• Understand basic cryptography, TLS handshake protocol, and certificates.  
• On-call responsibility on an escalation basis 
• Ability to trace and debug issues across the entire technology stack.  
• Ongoing motivation to automate manual, repeatable tasks.  

• Maintain project schedules and roadmaps.  You will track milestones and communicate status and progress to the project team, stakeholders, and leadership 
• Provide detailed deployment plans to release and operations teams 
• Coordinate with team members to identify and manage cross-team dependencies.  Proactively monitor risk and seek out, track, and remove barriers for successful project completion 
• Work with product management and engineering team leads to define goals, drive requirements, define scope, plan, and sequence project work appropriately to meeting objectives and timelines.  
• Excellent communication, time management, prioritization, and context-switching skills.  
• Strong attention to detail and follow-up.  
• Written and verbal proficiency in English.  
• Able to work independently and responsibly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.  
• Able to build strong working relationships across the organization.  

Desired Skills:  

• Strong command of native cloud capabilities from at least one public cloud provider.  
• Experience and/or strong understanding of docker, terraform, packer, ansible, Jenkins.  
• Experience with cloud network / VPC provisioning  
• Experience with cloud IAM integration  
• Experience fulfilling PCI and other security oversight requirements.  
• Experience deploying highly available infrastructure 

Education:  

• B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent technical training and professional work experience  

Candidates will be expected to primarily work remotely full time for the foreseeable future, subject to change as conditions permit.
