The CEO will keep abreast of industry trends, develop deep relationships both internally and externally and ensure PayPal’s products and services continue to be relevant and delivered in a manner that suits the needs of the market whilst adhering to local rules and regulations. S/he will provide guidance and mentorship to a highly capable team and help them develop into broader leadership roles in the future. The CEO will also serve as an ambassador and advocate for the international business, particularly in Brazil, maintaining the organization’s external brand and managing external stakeholders, including clients, governments and regulatory bodies. Key Responsibilities  Provide governance and legal entity oversight for the development of PayPal’s Brazilian business, organization, employees and image;  Help drive legal/regulatory advice on potential growth initiatives and be accountable for the impact on legal entity management;  Enable the Brazilian business to move quicker by streamlining processes and ensuring the control functions are suitably able to support the commercial objectives;  Ensure that the Brazilian entity has clear and open communication channels back to headquarters;  Provide the leadership that encourages the management team to further coalesce into a high-performing, unified whole;  Promote PayPal’s internal and external image and reputation internationally;  Attract, motivate, develop and retain superior executive talent; and  Build effective, trust-based, working relationships with Head Office, the local Board, Regulators, Government, Industry bodies and other key stakeholders.

Optimal Profile


  • Prior experience as a GM/COO or functional executive, in the international leadership team of a financial services business of scale and complexity or in related regulated industries;
  • Experienced interacting with Boards and Regulators;
  • Familiarity with the international markets (particularly Brazil), coupled with perspectives from working in a matrixed environment. Ideally s/he would have experience of working for a US multi-national at some stage in their career;
  • Knowledgeable about competitive forces within and outside of the industry; and
  • Track record of driving results for an organization.
