This position is for PayPal's Enterprise Data Services (EDS) organization focused on delivering enterprise solutions using modern technology to serve the various needs of the business. The scope of the organization is global and its data platforms serve a wide array of functions including Merchant, Partner, Operations, and Compliance business operations. One of the charters of EDS is to deliver on data driven company wide transformational initiatives like the data lake to integrate PayPal Inc. data seamlessly using big data technologies for both operational and analytical needs. In this position you will also have the opportunity to work with stakeholders and users to understand their needs and partner with engineering to deliver the solution. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working in cross-functional teams with a very high degree of analytical and technical skills.

Responsibilities:


Data Lead for a subset of a domain (Area lead): Go to person for the data pertaining to a feature or a subject area within the domain. Build expertise on data relevant to subject area. Analyze and understand current state of the implementation to ensure that the context and implications of change are understood by the clients and project team.
Requirements:  Create and document solution(s) of medium to high complexity to meet end user requirements, including documentation of systems specifications. Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT)
Execution: Manage project work through completion of delivery on assigned projects and ad hoc efforts.  Support multiple projects simultaneously. Coordinate with internal teams and customers to launch solutions, ensuring execution of training and communication plans. Measure and document results of implemented solutions
Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Ability to understand business problem and provide feasible solution meeting PayPal domain & technology requirements. Engage with business users on proof of concept efforts
Technical Expertise: Facilitate / Engage technical discussion for their product. Proficient in the use of analytics tools/coding necessary to build prototypes and requirements documents. Adequate knowledge of reporting and Business Intelligence concepts. Knowledge of Hadoop stack tools (Hive, Spark, etc.)


Qualifications:

  • A computer science graduate or undergraduate degree or equivalent with 5+ years of industry experience with 3+ years in business systems analysis on big data platforms
  • Experience in data analysis using open source solutions such as: Hadoop, HBase, Spark, Elastic Search
  • Must be familiar with scripting languages (Shell, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SQL and one or more of these DB’s - Oracle, MySQL, Teradata is a plus.
  • Experience in building Insights from data -  associations among data, business rules/logics, data flows, data usages.
  • Track record of working within a fast paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and geo locations.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, within function and across peer stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • Experience with Tableau or other visualization tools is a plus.
  • Experience in financial services industry preferred
