Global Data Sciences (GDS) is the R&D group for all of Risk and non-Risk teams and the center of excellence across PayPal for working with Big Data and Machine Learning. The team has more than 120 software engineers, data-scientists and other skilled technical staff uniquely focusing on developing data science solutions to aid in detecting and preventing fraud, protecting our customers and in providing better user experience . The group locate in San-Jose (CA), Tel-Aviv, Shanghai and Chennai, and reports directly to PayPal’s Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). We are looking for outstanding business support engineering folks to join us and help provide monitoring and investigation support for GDS analytical solutions, detect and investigate production issues to address real business needs. Primary responsibilities

  • Identify and investigate live issues for GDS analytical solutions during normal course of work
  • Collaborate with different partners (e.g. modelers, data scientists, developers) to solve problems with remote guidance in an agile manner.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis and lesson-learn sessions and look for improvement opportunities with business impact
  • Contribute to formulations and implementation of processes, procedures, and policies of GDS Live monitoring and investigation team
  • Participate in developing an advanced Anomaly Detection and Root Cause Analysis system with cutting edge technologies

Requirements

  • Strong in problem solving with team spirit, passionate for unlocking the power into business
  • Have passion in business support or issue handling.
  • Have basic knowledge of SQL and Linux shell
  • Good communication skills. Have ability to synthesize information and tracking work with documentation
  • Work effectively and independently in a remote report line across different time zones.
  • Have experience with Java/Python is a big plus.
  • Have experience with predicative modeling, machine learning and analytical tool is a big plus.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or quantitative field with 2+ year professional work experience. Or Master’s degree in an engineering or quantitative field
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.
