The Global Financial Crimes (GFC) organization is responsible for detecting and preventing financial crimes, including money laundering and terrorism financing, and requires data-driven insights to successfully manage the teams of investigators working to prevent illicit activity from occurring across PayPal products. The GFC Program Reporting Architect will support the technical development and implementation of metrics-based reporting and visualization for GFC, including internal management reporting, key risk indicator reporting, and board/committee level reporting. The Program Reporting Architect will work with program stakeholders to define the data needs for GFC, build the reporting strategy and roadmap and automate actionable reports for the department. This individual is responsible for the accuracy and efficacy of the data and insights that impact the overall productivity and effectiveness of GFC teams and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that GFC leadership has the reporting and analytics needed to identify risk and allow the business to operate effectively. Successful candidates will offer a strategic perspective, sound business judgment, deep analytical capabilities, and a collaborative working style. They will possess strong intellectual curiosity, a true interest for learning about the financial crimes compliance space, and a passion for achieving practical business and compliance impacts. Skills in problem solving, rigorous analysis, and distilling complex and voluminous data into concise summaries will also be critical. Successful candidates will have exceptional interpersonal skills, abilities to manage conflicting priorities to a defined timeline, strong project management and communication skills. Top qualified candidates will possess high levels of knowledge in SQL, dashboard development, relational database fundamentals and data warehouse architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and automate reporting structures to support analytics, data governance, data quality, management reporting packages, and metrics dashboards in the compliance and risk management area.
  • Design appealing data visualizations that enable leadership to quickly gain a quantitatively-driven understanding of GFC program health with the ability to provide specifics as needed.
  • Maintain regular management reporting and distribution.
  • Ensure reports and data structures are incorporated into data integrity checks to ensure the accuracy of what is output by the broader GFC Reporting team.
  • Assist more junior members with SQL logic validation to verify the accuracy of what is incorporated into regulatory and board reporting packages.
  • Enforce standard processes as the foundation of metric and reporting governance.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports as requested to support oversight of the GFC program.
  • Monitor controls to identify and escalate issues, regulatory risks, and opportunities.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects. Execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and ownership mentality.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in reporting (i.e. data visualization, KPIs tracking, dashboards). Familiarity with Enterprise Reporting tool like Tableau, SSRS, Business Objects, Cognos, MicroStrategy is preferred. 
  • Experience with extracting data from multiple disparate sources with a strong understanding in SQL and RDBMS technology (Teradata, Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • 5+ experience using a programming or scripting language in support of data automation like batch/shell scripting, Python, C#, .Net, Java, JavaScript, C++, etc..
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is proactive and takes initiative to drive change and manage competing and shifting priorities to achieve the most effective result.
  • Willing to learn new tools and business processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to translate technical processes and influence business stakeholders to provide meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Understanding of Compliance Investigations to identify root causes and ensure reporting accurately reflects internal processes.
  • Mentor fellow team members in best practices in data modeling and reporting.
