Provide security consulting services to internal infrastructure, application and development teams to assess risk and ensure implementations are consistent with security standards.

Providing information security consulting services to internal groups and development teams to assess risk and ensure implementations are consistent with security standards. These services will include architecture review, vulnerability assessment, threat analysis, exception review, and more. Individual will advise teams of best practices for secure deployments, security architecture, integration within control frameworks

1. Participating in infrastructure projects as a security SME to develop specifications for complex computer network security/protection technologies for information and network systems/applications.

3. Serving as security advisor to development and operations teams supporting PayPal customers and internal employees

4. Participating in the evaluation of vendor proposals, SaaS service and COTS applications and existing security designs, and emerging security technologies and systems.

Must Have:

  •  Ability to build and maintain constructive working relationships with a diverse community (in and outside of technology); ability to effectively communicate (both written and verbal) with and influence both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to earn the trust and respect of colleagues both in and outside of the Information Security team.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.

• Exhibit one team approach to all engagements.


  •  Understanding of SOX 404, PCI, FFEIC, GLBA, OFAC, the Patriot Act, and other regulatory requirements for the financial services sector.

•  Good understanding of information security and risk management frameworks such as ISO17799 and ISO27001.

PayPal is hiring an Information Security Engineer to work with the PayPal Infrastructure and Operations teams to ensure secure implementation practices of base tier infrastructures. This position reports to the PayPal Information Risk Management team which is responsible for assessing and managing technology risks for PayPal.

Candidates should have a comprehensive technology background with expertise in one of the following areas: security administration of distributed operating systems (Linux, Solaris), network security administration (LAN/WAN technologies, firewalls, routers, etc), enterprise application security architecture (such as IAM, databases, or other security infrastructure).
