This position for a Payments Analyst in the PP&E (Payment, Platform and Engineering) organization is under the Commercial Analytics group, which is responsible for helping meet business objectives and KPI goals by providing outstanding analytical and financial planning support.
As a member of PayPal’s Commercial Analytics team based in San Jose, this role will lead strategic analysis, business modelling and reporting and tracking of platform and financial KPI’s. This person will be a value-add player in driving and recommending strong recommendations to support and drive strong business results.

In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing payment behavior and transaction level details, report on key payment insights and KPI’s and driving business insights in close collaboration with product, market and finance teams. You will partner with these teams to help operationalize and quantify the business strategies that will drive profitability and margin expansion for the PayPal brand.

Key responsibilities:

  • Card Platform Financial impact & trend analysis, and platform opportunity sizing that has financial feasibility
  • Support Issuing Bank partnership pre/post analysis and related impact on key company metrics; support and maintain BI dashboards in Tableau and Qlikview
  • Payment and customer data analysis to support business development opportunities with our Financial Institution partners
  • Assist in Opportunity mining of potential cost savings or margin improvement proposals
  • Support adhoc Platform & business development analysis requests from our regional business teams

Ideal experience and skills:

  • 1-2 + year’s analytical work experience a strong plus.
  • Work experience in payments industry, financial services, or internet/ecommerce a plus
  • SQL/Teradata query skills mandatory, querying skills with large datasets a plus
  • Bachelors required, graduate school a plus (esp. in MIS, statistics, programming, quantitative/technical/financial major)
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills, great attitude and team player, quick learner, able to work cross functionally well, and having attention to detail
  • Experience with MS Excel including some financial/cost modeling experience, MS PowerPoint
  • Experience with Qlikview, Matlab, and Tableau a plus
