PayPal AppSec Tools and Engineering team is looking for an Application Security Quality Engineer to create, test and deploy measurably effective Secure Product Lifecycle (SPLC) tools/practices throughout the company.

Primary Job Responsibilities

PayPal AppSec Tools and Engineering team is looking for an Application Security Quality Engineer to create, test and deploy measurably effective Secure Product Lifecycle (SPLC) tools/practices throughout the company.

In Application Security Quality Engineer role, expect the following responsibilities:

SPLC Tools - Development, Testing, Deployment, Administration, and Support:

• Recommend, evaluate, test, integrate, deploy, and enforce security tools including static, binary and dynamic analyzers, fuzzers, security frameworks, etc.

• SPLC Tools administration, upgrades, rulepack updates, patching, etc.

• Functional testing and ensuring the quality of the deliverables from the larger AppSec engineering team

• Integration testing of our SPLC tools with various build/test environments

• Performance testing and benchmarking of our security tools across various stacks, languages and rulepacks

• Driving the testing and deployment of our scanning tools across various CI environments

•  L1/L2 support to our developers and coordination with our tool vendors to file bugs, enhancement requests, etc.

• Provide information security consulting services to internal development groups. Interface and drive communication with stakeholders (including vendors as needed) on various aspects of in-flight projects.

• Be proactive to learn any new technology relevant to assigned task

Job Requirements:

The candidate should have a background in application development or quality assurance with good exposure to application security and developing/deploying proactive security solutions and with expertise in automation and functional testing.

• BS in EE/CS with minimum of 6 years (or MS with 4 years) of experience in fast-paced and agile environments

• Good understanding of QA methodologies and automation. 

• Scripting experience in Perl or Python  

• Ability to come up with test scenarios and write test plans and test cases 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive execution across various teams

• Working knowledge of application security tools  

• Ability to document and track defects as well as produce detailed reports using defect tracking tools
