A fantastic opportunity to work as PayPal’s APAC GST specialist reporting to the Global Head of Indirect Taxes. The candidate will provide support on all APAC related indirect tax related matters, and will support various APAC finance teams, including APAC Tax, Financial Controlling, Indirect Tax compliance team, Accounts Payable and local business units in all GST/VAT matters.

  • Proactively supporting the PayPal businesses in APAC, including Singapore, Australia, China, India, Malaysia, Japan, etc., including GST advice related to:

  • GST accounting and compliance matters
  • Local treatment of PayPal Services,
  • Legal agreements with internal and external vendors or partners,
  • Local expenses
  • Intercompany matters
  • Legal developments, e.g. taxation of e-Commerce transactions, FinTech businesses


  • Main point of contact for roll out of global indirect tax compliance tool and participate in Indirect Tax compliance process re-engineering

  • Deal with queries from international GST authorities, including GST audits or ad-hoc desk-top reviews

  • Maintain VAT configurations for ERP and billing systems 

  • First line support for Indirect Tax queries from Accounts Payable and Finance

  • Own and manage indirect tax POs and budget 

Working collaboratively as part of a team in a high learning and fast paced international environment, the APAC Indirect Tax Manager supports the PayPal business on a real time basis in respect of day-to-day GST matters and projects. 


This role involves working collaboratively with the internal finance functions and external service providers, as well as with colleagues in the PayPal Business, in Tax, Legal and the Controllership group. Therefore, a track record of working and communicating across geographies, and with colleagues at all levels is a prerequisite for this role.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a good working knowledge of SAP. Ideally, the Candidate has participated in various GST related trainings or courses. Experience of GST Accounting and Indirect Taxes is a must. 


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent in experience
  • Minimum 4 years accounting experience with a multinational company, ideally in e-commerce, FinTech or financial services
  • Proven upskill / training / further education in GST/VAT (e.g. IRAS, ATO, etc.)
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge of ERP financial modules, ideally SAP.
  • Indirect Tax knowledge and compliance experience helpful
  • Knowledge of or experience with data analytics tools
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with team members
  • Exhibit strong analytical thinking, ability to work in a fast pace environment with excellent prioritization and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and to take ownership
