PayPal seeks an Android engineer for its Giving Platform team in Guatemala. In this role you will be working with a team of engineers to build the next generation Giving and Fundraising experiences/products. The PayPal Giving Platform team builds donation and fundraising products that connects hundreds of thousands of non-profits, millions of donors and tens of Partner marketplaces at a global scale to drive good for the community whilst meeting the company’s business objectives

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and testing of features and functions delivered via applications and services.
  • Developing quality artifacts - Test Planning, Test execution and Test Automation.
  • Working in an Agile environment with a focus on problem solving and engineering excellence.
  • Collaborating with peers and senior engineers/architects both within the team and across the organization to create technical solutions.
  • Working with product managers using Agile methodologies to deliver high quality user experiences that delight PayPal’s customers.
  • Working with the operations teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in Android & Java development
  • Expert in designing and building Android applications on top of RESTful services. Using Android JetPack is a plus.
  • Proficient in Java and native Android application development. Coding in Kotlin is a plus.
  • Familiar with Android architecture like MVC, MVP, MVVM etc. Experience with Android architecture components is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with design/implementation for availability, scalability and performance.
  • Confidence in advocating for and implementing Android design patterns.
  • Knowledge of open-source and commercial libraries commonly used in the Android ecosystem. Experience with EventBus library is a plus.
  • Write unit tests and integration tests not because you have to, but because you know it makes your code better.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
