The PayPal Controllership, Global Record-to-Report organization is looking for a highly motivated individual with a combination of strong accounting and interpersonal skills.  The Accountant position is located in Omaha, NE and the lead will supervise a globally dispersed team that includes a third party outsourced provider.  The Senior Accountant is responsible for the monthly reconciliation activities performed by the shared service center (Americas), and supports various business units and finance team to achieve success.

  • Supervise the accounting activities for the Americas close tower process. 
  • Lead and train the PayPal Close Tower team members.
  • Lead and complete GAAP to statutory reconciliations
  • Oversee the monthly balance sheet account reconciliation process, including the preparation and review of reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with outsourced operational activity,
  • Regularly conduct meetings with the outsourced shared service center team to review account reconciliations, clear open items, review quarterly metrics, discuss and resolve issues.
  • Supervise Audit related tasks including the following:
    • SOX Documentation, Compliance, and Testing
    • Audit Response

Additional areas the position supports:

  • Mergers & Acquisitions (acquisitions, liquidations, mergers, etc.) from the Fixed Assets perspective
  • Metrics Review, Interpretation and Action.
  • Process Improvement, standardization, stabilization, and transition to outsourced provider

The successful candidate will work well in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and possess extensive technical and operational accounting experience. The ability to support relationships cross functionally through clear communication of goals and objectives is extremely important.

Candidates for this position must have:

  • 4-6+ years accounting experience in industry. Experience at a large growth company a plus.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Experience of working with international entities & personnel
  • Solid experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc)
  • Strong process improvement skills; proficiency with spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, rapidly changing environment, and to lead and drive complex initiatives.
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate with management.

Candidates should also possess the following:

  • Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS standards
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance, and SOX
  • Polished communications skills including an ability to research complex matters
  • Energy and desire to thrive in a fast-paced organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent required
