PayPal Global Data Science (GDS) Organization delivers data science based solutions to majority of the organizations within PayPal. We are seeking for a highly motivated and talented technical product manager to join the Risk Data Acquisition team. As a Technical Product Manager in GDS you will get a unique opportunity to be part of a team that ensures GDS risk detection products incorporate the highest quality data by working with multiple organizations across the entire Paypal ecosystem.

The core charter of GDS is to build best-in-class solutions to help detect and prevent all bad actors from utilizing the Paypal systems and services. Since the bad actors are constantly evolving GDS is continually looking for new methods to detect them. We are looking for an individual who is eager to explore new data, while at the same time is proficient enough in the existing data to support the data scientists who are looking to leverage it in their solutions.

As a technical product manager in GDS you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining existing data stream quality
  • Investigating new data flows and streams and expose them to the organization
  • Drive expansion and utilization of data gathering technology in a cross functional manner in PayPal

Success In This Role Requires :

  • Data analytics experience
  • A ‘can do’ spirit combined with high energies and positive attitude
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • Self Starter which doesn’t hesitate to proactively approach in order to learn fast
  • Tech savvy which loves to stay on top of industry trends

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering discipline with a strong quantitative aptitude
  • Self-starter, driven, strong relationship builder, passionate about learning and making a difference
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and skilled at adjusting communication style/vocabulary to your audience’s role/function and technical familiarity
  • Experience working with a data-centric programing language like SQL, HIVE, Spark etc.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams, provide ongoing support to help implement end user requirements
  • Collaborate with data platform teams to build/enhance necessary data platforms to provide seamless access for customers to high value data sources
  • Document best practices for data tracking, and maintain documentation for self-service use
  • Partner closely with other Product Managers to understand new product offerings being built, and work with cross functional teams to ensure proper integration of critical components
