This is for the role of Technical Architect at Simility, which was recently acquired by PayPal. Simility helps companies prevent fraud and abuse with machine learning, big data analytics and data visualization capabilities. Simility levels the playing field against even the most sophisticated fraud ring by enabling analysts to create and configure detection mechanisms without having to write one line of code. As a Technical Architect, your primary focus will be to ensure that the product’s arterial components are optimized to handle the high-velocity transactions at Big Data scale. You will help us to define and optimize application using Java and other open source technologies. You will enable and provide customers (both internal and external) with the capabilities to make their decision-making process more efficient and with greater speed. As part of an agile delivery team, you will design, develop, deploy and support the data ingestion pipeline and the data access solutions for our Big Data Analytics platform. Create new data sources for our dynamic customer experience strategies collaborating with touch point teams. This role requires knowledge and hands-on experience with java, big data technologies used throughout entire application stack.


  • Understand and evaluate the latest trends in the Data Integration space including Cloud and Big Data technologies 

  • Define and own application architecture for Java and other open source technologies. 

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Engine (GCE) 

  • Stronghold on technical aspects like Design, Implement and support Data Models, Integration processes that provide timely access to large datasets, architect Solutions for Data Integration, build Reference Architecture / Standardize on Tools & Technologies for Data Integration. 

  • Design and develop ETL pipelines connected devices, web applications, and mobile applications that support the customer experiences 

  • Collaborate with front-end and mobile app development teams on user-facing features and services 

  • Work with platform architects on software and system optimizations, helping to identify and remove potential performance bottlenecks 

  • Focus on innovating new and better ways to create solutions that add value and amaze the end user, with a penchant for simple elegant design in every aspect from data structures to code to UI and systems architecture 

  • Stay up to date on relevant technologies, plug into user groups, understand trends and opportunities that ensure we are using the best techniques and tools 

  • Work with other software leads to developing continuous integration (CI) pipeline and unit test automation 

  • Document the work you do, especially APIs that you create 


  • Delivered at least one Big data solution using cloud services & open source 

  • Expert knowledge of programming languages like Java. Knowledge of Scala or Python is a plus. 

  • Ingested data using Big Data ETL tools (Apache Spark etc…) 

  • Implemented data security and privacy in a cloud environment 

  • Delivered solutions using Agile methodology 


  • Minimum 8 years of experience in design and development 

  • At least 2 years developing, deploying and maintaining high volume production big data solutions 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent, Masters will be preferred.
