Technology Risk Management team at PayPal is looking for a highly motivated, humble, and resourceful individual to fill a Data Risk Management position within the first line organization. In this role, you will get an opportunity to drive end-to-end data risk management program across PayPal Core and its adjacencies. The ideal candidate will have a balanced exposure to various subprocesses in technology risk management such as risk assessment, control life cycle management, issue management, exam management concentrating on data governance and management as well as be able to run and support data management and governance processes and programs across the company.


  • Understand and apply data related enterprise policies, procedures, standards, and frameworks to the data risk management programs.

  • Coordinate various program initiatives and annual risk compliance programs across functions within PayPal Core and its adjacencies to implement/enhance controls related to data management and governance organization. 

  • Measure risk posture through scorecards, Key Risk Indicators (KRI), and Key Performance Indicators (KPI), etc.

  • Manage the data risk program level including risk registers, risk identification, tracking, prioritization and driving resolution of project/program level issues

  • Develop testing programs to evaluate the effectiveness of controls in adherence to risk framework/control objectives, policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Collaborate with various key stakeholders to gain a common understanding of issues related to the control breakdowns/missing controls to define a specific commitment to strengthen or implement the missing controls.

  • Provide the ability to connect the dots across various data initiatives-defining and executing the data initiatives alignment framework and on-going processes.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of data related regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.


  • 10+ years of experience in data management and/or risk and compliance programs

  • 6+ years of program development and project management experience

  • Strong skills in team leadership and building positive business partner relationships

  • Strong networking skills and ability to work across multiple organizations to accomplish diverse goals

  • Must have a high degree of expertise in data management-understanding of how all facets of data management are integrated to provide best value.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical development teams

  • Comfortable working in a self-efficient, fast-paced, results-oriented environment

  • Familiarity with data related regulations including privacy, cybersecurity, data localization, open banking

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and skilled at adjusting communication style/vocabulary to your audience’s role/function and technical familiarity.

  • Understanding of risk management methodologies, frameworks, and principles (e.g. SOX, COBIT, NIST, CSA, ITIL, PCI, GDPR, etc.)
