The mission of our Consumer Integration Platform team is to build a first class platform that will support a variety of needs within the PayPal ecosystem via 3rd party integrations. Today we manage over 100 different 3rd party integrations, providing services such as bank deposit, bill payment, and cash delivery in over 150 countries. Our goal in the next few years is to continue our expansion of integrations, functionality, and use cases while improving scalability, throughput, and reliability. We intend for our platform to be the foundation of functionality in the PayPal app that is used by millions of people around the world. We are looking for Java engineers with a solid foundation in object-oriented programming and problem-solving skills. What you'll be doing

  • Enhance our culture of good design, coding and testing practices
  • Bear responsibility for end-to-end ownership of our software from conception to production operation
  • Prototype quickly and cleanly to facilitate rapid delivery of features
  • Own technical strategy for complex features with insightful and forward-looking approaches
  • Collaborate with project managers and leaders in building roadmap
  • Collaborate with technical leaders across PayPal to evaluate and implement best-fit solutions
  • Build strategy to improve quality, performance, scalability and operational aspects of our services
  • Monitor on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues.
  • Contribute in staff on-boarding - sourcing, screening, interviewing and teaching
  • This role requires you to coach and mentor

Basic qualification

  • 6+ years of track record in designing and writing understandable, testable and easy-to-maintain software
  • Strong creative problem solving, design patterns and object-oriented programming
  • Strong dedication to code quality
  • Commitment to operational excellence through development of automation, instrumentation of code, and monitoring development
  • Be able to lead technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions
  • Experience with running applications in cloud services (We are deployed to GCP)
  • Experience with hiring, mentoring and with a caring mindset for your team members.
  • A bias for continuous improvement, growth and innovative thinking
  • Experience with unix based development environment
  • Strong collaborator and communicator. Must be proficient in speaking, writing, and reading in English, in a business and technical environment
  • Familiarity with relational databases
