The Indirect Tax Senior Manager of APAC will oversee the management of Indirect tax obligations and act as regional Indirect Tax contact (business partner) and resident expert in providing technical guidance on indirect tax matters within the region. Will directly support Australia and India. In this role, you will report to the Sr. Director of Indirect tax. The Senior Manager will be expected to provide indirect tax support to the business and will manage working with internal, external business partners and lead, motivate and develop a team of Indirect Tax managers.

  • Act as indirect tax lead for specific business lines and projects, providing quality and timely guidance and specifically support Australia and India directly
  • Work cross-functionally and across regions to provide clear, consistent and comprehensive tax guidance to support compliance with new legislation and enable business initiatives.
  • Ensure new projects launch with indirect tax compliance requirements and processes implemented, minimizing risk and exposure to penalties
  • Identify areas of process improvement and drive the overall strategy with regards to the management of the indirect tax compliance process in the Americas
  • Analyze current and proposed tax policy changes in the Americas and evaluating impacts, developing and executing plans accordingly
  • Perform legal research and analysis on a variety of tax issues, including new transaction taxes, new markets and project-specific initiatives.
  • Develop strong understanding of PayPal’s businesses and internal financial systems and tools.
  • Develop plans and strategies to mitigate tax risk and optimize opportunities.
  • Support indirect tax planning and potential acquisitions
  • Manage audits and controversy


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field from an accredited institution. A CPA, MST, or JD preferred.
  • 10+ years of tax experience working at a public accounting firms OR equivalent experience at a multinational corporation with complex multi-state taxes and industry, focused on US indirect tax
  • Experience with project and people management
  • Familiarity with e-commerce sales taxation trends and the US tax implications
  • Can analyze all sides of an argument, document tax positions for our auditors, and ensure that the proper checks and balances are in place to ensure all aspects have been considered.
