We are looking for an iOS architect who will be responsible for PayPal App iOS architecture and to work very closely with the engineering managers and tech leads to continue the journey of building the best payments iOS application. This individual will be working very closely with the fellow architects to build the best payments platform in the world. At PayPal, we work together on close knit, small teams. We are passionate about code quality and follow our defined best practices while always searching for new, better ways to get things done. We value our ego-free code review and have continuous integration set up to test our pull requests, deliver nightly builds and run nightly regressions with our automated tests. We work closely with our design team to build, user test and iterate on new features with a customer driven focus.  

About the team: As the central architecture we are responsible for bringing in synergy across teams, governing the app and bringing in innovation. We are fearless about adopting to new technology and taking the team forward with confidence. We continuously learn and broaden our knowledge by bringing in guest speakers to conduct talks.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the architecture efforts for the iOS application, testing, continuous integration.
  • Native iOS app development and converting ideas, designs and requirements to concrete stable production builds
  • Designs and oversees solutions for specific use cases that provide frameworks, interfaces, and services that can be extended and reused for future requirements.
  • Influence peers, juniors and seniors both within the consumer mobile organization and across PayPal.
  • Work with product, project and engineering teams to deliver products that customers need and on schedule.
  • Understand and implement Android design patterns
  • Collaborate with Engineering and QA to resolve bugs
  • Develops and communicates technical processes, standards and best practices within the consumer mobile team.
  • Works well within a team and contributes effectively to the success of the team and related teams.
  • Identifies opportunities for engineering productivity improvements or directions and evangelizes these successfully.

Requirements:

  • At least 10+ years of software development experience with 4-5 years of iOS development experience.
  • This position requires in-depth knowledge and experience on iOS development
  • Experience mentoring and developing software engineers
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and explain technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Experience working on a large object-oriented code bas
  • Understanding of design pattern - MVVP, MVP
  • High level understanding of Android development.
  • Bachelors and/or Masters in computer science OR related field of study
