We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager, Applied Science, who has a solid background in applied Machine Learning, genuine passion for building data-driven products. You should possess ability to communicate data insights and scientific vision, and has a proven track record of leading both applied scientists and software engineers to execute complex projects and deliver business impacts. In this role, you will have an opportunity to lead development of machine learning algorithms on Venmo and PayPal large datasets. You will need to lead delivery and operations of PayPal/Venmo scale applications running on public cloud that process large volumes of data that derive patterns and conclusions from the data. You will have the opportunity to take full stack ownership of design and implementation of highly reliable, scalable and high-performance products.

Candidate Qualification 

  • Professional 8+ years of industry and academic experiences in machine learning and data science involving search optimization, ranking, personalization, recommendation, automation, social graph, NLP.  

  • 3+ years managing teams that have productized machine learning driven experience from conception to shipped product including data exploration, feature engineering, model building, performance evaluation and online testing. 

  • Strong fundamentals of data structures, algorithms and design patterns, familiarity with statistics and mathematical analysis. 

  • Ability to understand cutting edge scientific models and adapt them for Venmo’s needs. 

  • Comfortable in working in ambiguous, fast-paced and high-growth dynamic environment. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication to drive plans and outcomes with diverse and cross-functional team leads on a regular basis.
