The Senior Director of HR Technology will deliver a modern, secure, resilient, scalable and multi-tenant platform that will enable PayPal’s growth. The successful leader will be seen as promoting innovation, be data driven and be a trusted partner. The leader of this critical technology vertical will promptly assess current state, define future state, develop a multi-year investment plan and supporting road-map that when executed will deliver against the defined strategy-outcomes.

Lead strategic direction of our core HR technology platform:

  • Actively shape HR transformation roadmap by identifying key technology enablers; including support of service delivery model, single source of truth, and employee experience
  • Understand and apply external industry trends, particularly around emerging technologies and operating models
  • Partner with stakeholders across HR and other corporate functions to gain insight into roadmap and business initiatives that may impact technology portfolio
  • Provide primary oversight of software and professional services providers, including Workday
  • Assist in shaping the HR Technology Platform team structure, service standards and client/partner interaction models

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Trusted Technology Partner: Serve as on-the-ground technical partner for the HR business verticals; developing rich, influential and trusted partnerships with key stakeholder and constituents. Demonstrate the ability to navigate internal networks, build internal consensus and lead from all dimensions as necessary.
  • Strategic Thinker and Innovator: Bring outside-in thinking to the organization, highlighting industry trends that should be considered and evaluated. Act as an innovator, disruptor and executioner in informing and driving all aspects of our  HR technical strategy.
  • Platform Mind-Set: Establish the go-forward architecture and goals that will deliver the desired-intended outcomes relating to platform security, scalability and resiliency; establish a product mind-set that enables this technology vertical to thrive.
  • Product Mind-Set: Develop a product mind-set that is focused on delivering the needs of the business. In a technology-enabled product organization, the staff exists to service the needs of your customers, within the constraints of the business.
  • Platform Gap Analysis: Assess gaps between current and target platform architectures, evaluate options, and develop appropriate solution-based strategies leveraging PayPal's technologies in combination with 3rd party, open source and COTS products.
  • Lead-Manage-Coach the team: Be a dynamic leader who can instill PayPal’s values into the team and can guide-develop the team to be a high-performing team that deliver the desired business results in a manner keeping with our culture.
  • Internal Consultant: Provide expertise to business units and colleagues across the company who are building platform, infrastructure, and database applications and frameworks.
  • External Voice: Represent PayPal to external parties in building long-term roadmaps and influencing COTS product directions.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in transforming technology architecture at scale in a fast-paced environment; applying strong technical, consultative skills, including business acumen, customer empathy, and the ability to influence and partner. This person thrives in a dynamic, global, fluid, matrix environment and is results-focused.  Is comfortable leading from both the front and the rear, as situations dictate. History in system transformation with proven results, outcomes.
