UK Merchant Lending, is a component of the Global Merchant Lending division of the PayPal Credit business unit. Core responsibility for this role shall be to work as a business / commercial lead with a cross-functional team to ensure delivery to market of new products and initiatives, which will help UK SMB merchants obtain the finance they need to grow, strengthen their businesses and deepen their engagement with PayPal. This role reports into the Director of UK Merchant Lending. The role holder shall serve as the business lead to develop new lines of SMB lending, from inception, through delivery and expansion into market.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and scope initiatives to both enhance existing products in market and deliver new ones, to hit aggressive growth plans, while ensuring strong control environment.

  • This will include developing both a strong understanding of customer needs, key commercial drivers, competitive market environment, and regulatory and compliance frameworks.

  • Explore new developments and capabilities in market e.g. Open Banking, and develop proposals for how these could be applied to the benefit of PayPal business lending products and our customers.

  • Ensure UK Merchant Lending enables growth of PayPal’s SMB & Mid-Market merchant segments partnering with PayPal colleagues outside of Credit to deliver that “halo” in tangible, measurable ways.

Requirements:

  • Min. 5+ year of experience in SMB lending and wider Credit environment.

  • Strong knowledge of market and regulatory environment

  • Familiarity with a range of business disciplines including B2B product marketing, product development and management, financial planning & analysis, credit risk, and operations

  • Highly collaborative ‘one team’ attitude, with experience navigating a highly matrixed, cross-functional, international professional environment.

  • Be action-oriented with a passion for detail and a strong track record of delivery

  • Able to build and execute long term strategies for the evolution and growth of the business, working with stakeholders and peers across the organisation.
