PayPal’s Solutions Engineer is a role which combines excellent technical, business and product skills to enable our customers to be successful with our solutions. The Solutions Engineer works closely with Enterprise Sales Reps and Account Executives pitching our technical solutions to new potential and existing clients. The ideal candidate is a results-driven individual who can understand and communicate technical concepts to both technical and business audience, enjoys both pre-sales activities as well as detailed technical design. This individual is a strategic and creative thinker with high level of ownership, self-motivation and must be able to work independently with little supervision. This position is based out of our Singapore office and is part of PayPal’s Global Professional Services organization. Global Professional Services delivers technical solutions, experience design, integration and post live technical services to drive product adoption and quality servicing to our customers.

Primary Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities


  • Collaborate with clients to provide product consultation and lead the solution discovery process, evaluating business needs to identify appropriate value proposition of PayPal to win the opportunity.
  • Collaborate with Sales teams to deliver customised pre-sales technical presentations and product demonstrations to clients. Use both functional and technical knowledge to develop and communicate proposals and solutions in a simple and compelling way.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce RFP and RFI responses.

Technical Integration:

  • Own delivery of a complete working solution, including working with the Technical Implementations team to test the design and ensure optimal customer experience.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the PayPal integration components, APIs and SDKs.
  • Act as a conduit between product engineering and clients, influencing the product roadmap by identifying and informing on regional insights, challenges and strategic opportunities and helping PayPal to think local while building a global product.
  • Keep current on industry trends and the competitive landscape.


  • 10+ years of technology sales, consulting, solution design or product management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and understanding customer technical/business needs and translating them into viable integrated solutions
  • An outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to successfully interact and dynamically adapt communication styles with all levels of client organisations.
  • Fluency in Mandarin is required due to regional business coverage.
  • Leverage customer relationship and time management skills to effectively prioritise and multi-task and work with multiple clients concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with enterprise companies preferably retailers, e-commerce or payment gateways.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% of time.

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of latest internet technologies (HTTP, JavaScript, RESTful APIs, JSON, OAuth, GraphQL).
  • Hands-on experience (2 years) with contemporary programming languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby or Java.
  • Experience with mobile software development technologies (iOS, Android) and Mobile development stack.
  • Knowledge of online payment landscape including gateway processing is considered a huge plus.
